In February 2025, the Malaysian government introduced a new policy requiring companies to provide up to three paid, structured internship placements for local students for every expatriate Employment Pass (EP) issued. This “1:3 Practical Training Policy” aims to generate over 100,000 internship opportunities annually and bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry demands.
