Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation (KDSF)

The Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation (KDSF) is a non-profit organisation with tax-exempt status, committed to the welfare of children with Down syndrome. Our primary focus is education for children aged 2 months to 6 years old, delivered through Early Intervention Programme (EIP) — a specialised curriculum that supports development in gross motor, fine motor, speech and language, social, perceptual-cognitive, and pre-academic skills.

Today, KDSF operates four Centres—in Petaling Jaya, Johor Bahru, Klang, and Melaka—all committed to providing specialised early intervention for children with Down syndrome. These Centres are run like ordinary kindergartens, enriched with activities such as sports days, concerts, graduations, and educational outings — but with specialised teaching methods and therapy tailored to each child’s needs.

One of these Centers is the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation – National Centre (KDSF-NC) in Petaling Jaya. Established in 1989 as the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Centre (KDSC), it began in a small rented bungalow house on Jalan Gasing and has since grown into a purpose-built centre in Taman SEA that has supported and educated more than 3,000 children with Down syndrome.

Run by a dedicated team of teachers, therapists, and staff, and supported by the Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur, KDSF-NC provides holistic programmes that nurture children’s growth while guiding and empowering families. Our compassionate approach ensures every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and inclusive environment.
