NI (National Instruments)

Our Story

Who We Are

In 1976, three ambitious engineers—James Truchard (Dr. T), Jeff Kodosky, and Bill Nowlin—were inspired to start a business where people could land their dream job, flourish in a city they love, and make a difference. And so they did—right out of Dr. T’s garage. It started with an idea as bold as it was simple—connect a test instrument to a computer—and the way technology was tested and measured would change forever.

In 2023, Emerson acquired NI. As part of Emerson's new Test & Measurement business group, we’ll build on our legacy and leadership in software-connected automated T&M systems, and we remain focused on investing in industry leading innovations and delivering differentiated solutions to our customers.

Our Values

Make Test Your Competitive Advantage

Engineers rely on test and measurement to ensure new technologies deliver the highest levels of safety, reliability, and functionality, while also meeting demand faster than ever. And as products become more and more complex, they require a constant evolution of test and measurement technologies. That’s the work we do every day. Our software-connected approach is revolutionizing how enterprises use test systems and insights to drive product and business performance.
