It was like a dream come true ‒ people who relied heavily on glasses or contact lenses to function in their daily lives now had the option of being able to see the world clearly without having to wear any more glasses or contacts. Laser vision correction became more than just “the new surgical procedure in the market” ‒ to many, it was a life changing experience, like being given a 2nd chance to start over.

Today, about 29 years later, OPTIMAX - eye specialist centre has established itself as one of the most reputable eye care providers in South East Asia with a large clientele base, we have expanded to provide a full spectrum of eye care treatments including cataract, glaucoma, dry eyes and others.

Clients, both local and international patients from in and around the region ‒ Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan painstakingly travel all the way just to be with us is indeed a true testament to our reputation for surgical excellence.

 

Our story began modestly in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), KL in 1995. When we started, we knew that we wanted to do something special ‒ something that would push humanity forward and change lives.

And as the pioneers of laser vision correction in Malaysia, OPTIMAX has done just that ‒ by doing the unthinkable and investing in a technology that was still very much unheard of back then, we were instrumental in making laser vision correction widely available to the people of this region.

 

Through the years, we constantly remind ourselves of our humble beginnings, and acknowledge that without the support of the people, we will not be where we are today.

Yes ‒ we are a private company, but while maintaining profits is necessary in order to sustain the talent and technological investments in OPTIMAX, we have not forgotten our social responsibilities as medical service providers.

Through the years, OPTIMAX, together with our corporate partners and selected charitable organizations, have given back to the people by aiding in the restoration of sight to the less fortunate through sponsorship of cataract surgeries, providing free eye health screenings and also free eye health education to the public.
