About the job opportunity:

The Business Development Manager will play a critical leadership role in shaping and accelerating the company’s growth agenda. This role is responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing high-impact commercial opportunities, strategic partnerships, and market expansion initiatives that drive sustainable revenue and long-term enterprise value. As a key member of the leadership team, the Business Development Manager will work cross-functionally to translate strategy into execution, unlock new growth levers, and build scalable business models in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

New Business Development

  • Develop new relationships and opportunities to grow the business and support scaling initiatives across Malaysia and potential regional markets.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate market insights into executable business opportunities.
  • Drive lead generation and outreach strategies, including direct engagement with key accounts and strategic targets.

Account & Relationship Management

  • Own and manage key named accounts, ensuring long-term partnership value, performance, and scalability.
  • Maintain and grow existing business relationships through proactive engagement, performance reviews, and opportunity expansion.
  • Act as a trusted commercial advisor to partners, influencing their device lifecycle, trade-in, and resale strategies.

Strategic Planning & Commercial Analysis

  • Think critically and strategically when planning initiatives to ensure project success and sustainable growth.
  • Analyse market trends, partner performance, and competitive landscape to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiations, structuring mutually beneficial partnership models with strong ROI focus.
  • Develop business cases, proposals, and presentations to support leadership decision-making.

Partnership Identification & Growth

  • Proactively identify and evaluate potential partnership opportunities that align with 3cat’s business objectives — including retail, financing, logistics, technology platforms, and service partners.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of high-impact collaborations to support market expansion and revenue diversification.
    Lead partnership negotiations and secure commercial terms that deliver value to both 3cat and its partners.

Job Requirements

  • University degree from top ranked institution or proven excellence in a similar role. 
  • More than 5 years of industry experience, and experience managing accounts with a value of more than RM1million per year. 
  • Preference for candidates with Retail and Telecommunications Experience. 
  • Fluent in English language, both written and verbal. 
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
