Job Description Role OverviewThe Hypervisor Engineer will lead the design, certification, and lifecycle management of Nutanix-based hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and VMware virtualization technologies in enterprise environments. This role requires deep expertise in Nutanix architecture and components, along with working knowledge of VMware for multi-platform support.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, certify, and optimize Nutanix HCI solutions and associated technologies (AHV, Prism, storage, DR)Manage and maintain all Nutanix components, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security standardsSupport VMware virtualization stack (ESXi, vCenter, NSX, SRM) as part of hybrid HCI environmentsImplement and automate hypervisor administration, lifecycle management, and patching processes (VTC, RA, ITCM, VAT)Collaborate with architecture and operations teams for capacity planning, scalability, and performance tuning of HCI environmentsEnsure compliance with access management (AD groups, Priv ID, ITPA) and cybersecurity requirements (e.g., modern DR, Red Button, Cyber Recovery)Evaluate new HCI/virtualization technologies and recommend refresh or adoption strategies based on vendor lifecycle (EOL/EOSL)Create and maintain engineering documentation, templates, and certification processes for hypervisor deploymentsProvide guidance for troubleshooting, escalations, and transition planning with operational teamsDevelop a strong understanding of the client environment, tools, and engineering processes to ensure alignment with organizational structure and ways of working. Serve as the primary POC for branch site engineering activities, coordinating requirements, addressing site-specific challenges, and ensuring successful implementation of infrastructure solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.OS Engineering – Windows & LinuxDesign and maintain OS build standards, golden images, and hardened configurations for Windows Server and RHEL.Plan and execute lifecycle management for OS platforms, including patching, upgrades, and EOL/EOSL transitions.Integrate OS configurations with Active Directory, Group Policies, Red Hat Satellite, and other enterprise tools.Implement and maintain OS-level security baselines, compliance policies, and vulnerability remediation processes.Develop and maintain automation playbooks/scripts (PowerShell, Ansible, Bash) for provisioning, patching, and configuration enforcement.Collaborate with application, security, and infrastructure teams for OS-level troubleshooting and performance optimization.
