About you: We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our internal Data Solutions team within the Global Technology Solutions group. This is an exciting opportunity to tackle complex technical problems as well as playing a pivotal role in the growth of Data Solutions within Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will serve as a leadership figure for Data Science as well as the parallel Data Solutions teams as they are built out over the short to medium term, being the primary point of contact for our data footprint within the region. Please note that this role will require working hours to be shifted approximately 3 days per week to partially align with the UK working hours. Day-to-day, you will: • Be doing hands-on development work, developing our Data Science products in partnership with your customers both within and beyond the Data Solutions organisation. • Pair with junior team members on their work, with the ultimate goal of elevating them to the same level of technical capability as yourself. • Play a key part in the coordination of project work in the team, supervising the work of others. • Be a leading voice contributing to the overall strategy of the Data Solutions organisation, in particular with spotting opportunities/solutions and registering them appropriately. • Contribute heavily to a culture of knowledge-sharing, both within the team, and in the wider organisation. • Spend time with your stakeholders, forming great relationships with them and becoming a trusted partner. Your skills and experiences might also include: • Strong data science and statistics skills. • Strong Python skills. • Experience of data science within a cloud environment. • Strong SQL skills for complex data extraction. • Experience mentoring junior team members. • Strong communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical colleagues. • Experience with best-practice SDLC principles (source code versioning/control, code testing, code review, pull requests, code modularization, proper documentation etc). • Experience working to a flavour of Agile and/or DevOps which is compatible with Data Science work. Nice to have: • Experience using PySpark on Databricks, or a similar platform. • Experience with MLOps tooling and practices. Skills, knowledge, experience & qualifications: • You enjoy the “people aspects” of your role and form good relationships. You are trusted and respected. • You are an experienced Data Scientist with a proven track record delivering value in an commercial setting. • You are able to work independently with minimal supervision, using your expertise and experience to make the required decisions to move a project forward whilst maintaining alignment with company priorities. • You enjoy mentoring and upskilling more junior colleagues, and are able to supervise their projects and provide support where required. • You are passionate about data and the ever-evolving technology that is used to leverage it. • You are focussed on delivering high-quality solutions to given timeframes. • You can communicate well with colleagues – both technical and non-technical.
