Job Description

  

The Mould Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all daily precast mould production activities, ensuring that operations are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality standards. This role involves leading and mentoring the mould production team, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a disciplined and productive work environment.The Mould Supervisor manages resources, including materials, tools, and equipment, to ensure optimal utilization and prevent downtime, while coordinating closely with engineering, casting, quality control, and logistics teams to maintain smooth workflow and meet production targets. The role also involves monitoring adherence to technical specifications, conducting inspections, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing corrective measures to maintain high standards of workmanship.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.0 Team Supervision & Workforce Management
1.1 Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of precast mould production to ensure timely
and efficient task completion.
1.2 Lead, motivate, and coach team members to maintain high levels of productivity and
morale.
1.3 Train new workers on mould production techniques, equipment operation, and safety
procedures.
1.4 Monitor attendance, discipline, and workforce performance, providing feedback and
support as needed.
1.5 Assign daily and weekly tasks to team members based on workload and skill levels.
1.6 Conduct regular team meetings to communicate production goals, updates, and expectations.
1.7 Identify skill gaps and recommend training or development programs for team members.
1.8 Resolve conflicts or operational issues within the team in a timely and professional manner.
1.9 Encourage teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement among staff.
1.10 Ensure clear delegation of responsibilities and accountability for task completion.
1.11 Recognize and reward high performance to motivate staff and reinforce positive behaviors.
1.12 Support workforce planning, including recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning.
1.13 Promote adherence to safety protocols, PPE usage, and HSE regulations among all team members.

2.0 Production Execution & Scheduling

2.1 Work closely with production planners to schedule mould preparation activities in line
with casting schedules and project deadlines.

2.2 Prioritize tasks and allocate manpower and resources to ensure workflow continuity.

2.3 Assist in the implementation of production plans and report progress or delays.

2.4 Monitor daily mould production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet targets.

2.5 Track mould availability, turnaround times, and utilization to optimize workflow efficiency.

2.6 Coordinate with casting and engineering teams to ensure mould readiness for production activities.

2.7 Identify potential bottlenecks or delays in mould preparation and implement corrective measures.

2.8 Maintain accurate production records for reporting, audits, and future planning.

2.9 Assist in forecasting future mould requirements based on project timelines and casting plans.

2.10 Ensure production activities comply with safety, quality, and operational standards

2.11 Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and reducing downtime.

 

3.0 Quality Assurance & Standards Compliance

3.1 Enforce quality control standards during mould setup, alignment, preparation, and release
processes.

3.2 Inspect moulds regularly to ensure conformance to design specifications, dimensions, and
surface quality.

3.3 Support non-conformance reporting and corrective/preventive actions (NCR & CAPA).

3.4 Assist in root cause analysis for any mould-related defects or quality issues and implement corrective actions.

3.5 Collaborate with QA/QC teams to address non-conformities and enforce quality standards.

3.6 Monitor adherence to company policies, ISO requirements, and project specifications.

3.7 Maintain detailed records of inspections, deviations, and corrective actions for audits and reporting.

3.8 Provide training and guidance to team members on quality standards, best practices, and
process improvements.

3.9 Recommend process improvements to enhance mould quality, durability, and operational
efficiency.

3.10 Work closely with engineering and design teams to resolve technical issues affecting mould
accuracy.

 

4.0 Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

4.1 Ensure all operations follow health and safety protocols, legal regulations, and company policies.

4.2 Conduct daily safety checks and lead toolbox talks and safety inductions.

4.3 Enforce the proper use of PPE and ensure work areas are safe and clean.

4.4 Monitor workplace conditions to proactively identify hazards and implement corrective measures.

4.5 Participate in incident investigations and ensure timely reporting and documentation of near-
misses and accidents.

4.6 Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging team members to report unsafe conditions
or practices.

4.7 Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental laws, and company HSE policies.
4.8 Support emergency response planning, drills, and first aid readiness within the mould team.
4.9 Collaborate with HSE officers to conduct safety audits and implement recommended improvements. 

5.0 Equipment, Tools & Material Management
5.1 Oversee the use, maintenance, and storage of tools, equipment, and machinery related to
mould production.
5.2 Monitor and control inventory of materials (e.g., shuttering oil, inserts, bolts) required for
mould operations.
5.3 Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs and coordinate timely repairs or
replacements.

5.4 Implement preventive maintenance schedules for all moulds, tools, and machinery to reduce downtime.

5.5 Track mould and equipment usage, lifespan, and performance, recommending repairs or replacements as necessary.

5.6 Ensure all equipment is operated safely and according to manufacturer guidelines and company SOPs.

5.7 Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of materials and consumables.

5.8 Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, inspections, and material consumption for reporting and audits.

6.0 Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

6.1 Identify production inefficiencies or bottlenecks and recommend solutions to improve performance.

6.2 Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives or Kaizen activities to reduce waste and
optimize workflows.

6.3 Provide feedback to engineering and technical teams for mould design improvements.

6.4 Conduct root cause analysis for recurring mould or production issues and implement corrective actions.

6.5 Monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions and adjust processes as necessary.

6.6 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop practical solutions for technical or operational challenges.

6.7 Document issues, resolutions, and lessons learned for future reference and team training.

6.8 Mentor team members in problem-solving techniques to enhance operational capability.

6.9 Proactively identify potential risks to production schedules and recommend mitigation strategies.

6.10 Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, quality, and productivity.

6.11 Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the impact of improvement initiatives.

 

7.0 Reporting & Documentation

7.1 Maintain accurate records of production output, material consumption, labour hours, and downtime.

7.2 Prepare daily shift reports and escalate any major issues to senior management.

7.3 Document mould maintenance, modifications, and incidents.

7.4 Maintain logs of quality inspections, non-conformities, and corrective actions for audits and reference.

7.5 Track team performance metrics and productivity indicators, and report findings to management.

7.6 Document process improvements, lessons learned, and best practices for future reference.

7.7 Ensure compliance with company policies, project requirements, and regulatory standards in all documentation.

7.8 Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, including project managers and clients, as required.

7.9 Update and maintain mould inventory and usage records for accurate planning and forecasting.

7.10 Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly production summaries for management review.

 

8.0 Cross-Departmental Coordination & Client Interface

8.1 Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Casting, and Logistics teams to ensure seamless mould preparation and handover.

8.2 Liaise with clients, consultants, and site representatives to address quality concerns or schedule alignment.

8.3 Attend site meetings and contribute to project coordination efforts as required.

8.4 Act as the primary point of contact between the mould team and other departments to ensure clear communication of requirements and priorities.

8.5 Provide feedback to engineering and design teams on mould performance, usability, and suggested improvements.

8.6 Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of materials and components.

8.7 Facilitate knowledge sharing of best practices and lessons learned across departments.

8.8 Assist in resolving interdepartmental issues that may impact production efficiency or quality.

8.9 Collaborate with maintenance and technical teams to implement workflow and mould design improvements.

8.10 Ensure alignment of mould operations with overall project timelines, deliverables, and client expectations.

10.6 Facilitate employee involvement in identifying improvement opportunities and implementing solutions.

10.7 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to pilot new processes, tools, or technologies and assess their impact.

Recommend strategic changes or upgrades to equipment, resources, or workflows to optimize productivity. 


Job Requirements

 (a) Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology
or related technical field.
(b) 5+ years of hands-on experience in mould preparation, supervision, or precast concrete
production.
(c) Proven experience in supervising a team in a production or factory setting.
(d) Familiarity with precast mould systems (steel, timber, adjustable moulds) and mould
maintenance techniques.
(e) Health and Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, or equivalent) are preferred.
(f) Basic knowledge of quality standards in precast production (e.g; ISO standards).
