JOB PURPOSE

To be responsible for leading and executing quality assurance and control activities across all stages of precast concrete production and construction. This role ensures that materials, workmanship and finished products comply with project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements. To oversee inspections, testing procedures and documentation while also mentoring junior inspectors, coordinating with internal teams and clients and driving continuous improvement in quality processes to minimize defects, ensure compliance, and support successful project delivery.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.0 Drawing & Design Review

1.1 Review and verify shop drawings, technical specifications, and fabrication details prior to
production.

1.2 Identify inconsistencies or unclear details and coordinate with design engineers to resolve
them.

1.3 Validate that the latest revisions of drawings and documents are used in production.

1.4 Ensure drawings comply with project requirements, codes, and standards.

1.5 Cross-check drawings against approved materials, methods, and construction sequences.

1.6 Provide feedback to design teams on potential constructability or quality issues.

1.7 Maintain a record of drawing approvals, revisions, and communications for audit purposes.

2.0 Material Inspection & Testing

2.1 Inspect incoming raw materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures, steel, inserts) for compliance with specifications.

2.2 Coordinate with suppliers to ensure delivery of approved and certified materials.

2.3 Conduct and oversee laboratory and field testing of materials to ensure compliance (e.g., sieve analysis, moisture content, aggregate quality).

2.4 Verify material certifications, test reports, and supplier documentation before acceptance.

2.5 Monitor material storage and handling to prevent contamination or degradation.

2.6 Report and document non-conforming materials and initiate corrective actions in coordination with relevant teams.

2.7 Assist in developing and updating material testing plans and QA/QC procedures.

2.8 Ensure that all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to standards.

3.0 Concrete Production & Testing

3.1 Monitor and verify mix design approvals, trial mixes, and daily batching operations.

3.2 Conduct and supervise tests such as slump, temperature, air content, and unit weight.

3.3 Ensure accurate sampling, curing, and testing of concrete cubes/cylinders for strength analysis.

3.4 Evaluate and approve modifications to mix designs as needed.

3.5 Verify that batching, mixing, and delivery processes comply with project specifications and standards.

3.6 Monitor production logs to ensure correct batching sequence and material proportions.

3.7 Coordinate with laboratory personnel to ensure timely testing and accurate documentation of results.

4.0 Precast Production Quality Control

4.1 Perform pre-pour and post-pour inspections on formwork, reinforcement, MEP installations, and
embedded items.

4.2 Inspect production processes including casting, vibration, surface finishing, curing, and
demolding.

4.3 Verify dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and structural integrity of finished precast elements.

4.4 Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project quality standards.

4.5 Identify defects or non-conformances during production and coordinate corrective actions with production teams.

5.0 Documentation & Reporting

5.1 Prepare detailed Inspection and Test Reports (ITRs) and maintain logs of all inspections and tests.

5.2 Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow up on Corrective and Preventive Actions
(CAPAs).

5.3 Ensure that all quality documentation, including material certificates and test results, is properly
recorded, traceable, and auditable.

5.4 Manage and update Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) in coordination with QA/QC management.

5.5 Compile weekly, monthly, and milestone-based QA/QC reports for management and client review.

5.6 Maintain a centralized repository for drawings, approvals, inspection records, and correspondence.

6.0 Client & Internal Coordination

6.1 Liaise with quality managers, production teams, design teams, and clients on quality-related
matters.

6.2 Attend client quality assurance meetings, site inspections, and audits.

6.3 Address and resolve customer complaints related to product quality.

6.4 Provide timely updates and reports to clients regarding inspection results, NCRs, and CAPA progress.

6.5 Coordinate with internal teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures identified during client inspections.

6.6 Support client audits and third-party inspections by providing required documentation, technical explanations, and evidence of compliance.

7.0 Defect Management & Process Improvement

7.1 Reject defective products/materials and isolate them from the supply chain.

7.2 Lead root cause analysis for recurring issues and provide recommendations for corrective action.

7.3 Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve
efficiency.

7.4 Monitor effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to ensure issues do not recur.

7.5 Collaborate with production, design, and site teams to implement process enhancements and best practices.

8.0 Mentoring & Leadership

8.1 Guide and mentor junior QA/QC inspectors and technicians.

8.2 Support the QA/QC Manager in training programs and onboarding new team members.

8.3 Monitor compliance of staff with quality protocols and standards.

8.4 Provide technical guidance and advice to production and site teams on quality-related issues.

8.5 Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness within the QA/QC team.

8.6 Conduct periodic performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to junior staff.

9.0 Anti-Bribery Compliance
9.1 Understand, apply and comply to anti-bribery & corruption management system

and policies.

9.2 Report any violation to anti-bribery & corruption policy through whistleblowing

channels.

10.0 Safety & Compliance

10.1 Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

10.2 Support safety inspections and report unsafe practices during quality inspections.

10.3 Ensure alignment with local, national, and international codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI,
EN, ISO).

10.4 Monitor compliance with project-specific HSE requirements during production, casting, and site operations.

10.5 Assist in conducting risk assessments and toolbox talks related to QA/QC activities.

10.6 Identify potential hazards related to materials, handling, or production processes and recommend mitigation measures.

10.7 Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols by QA/QC and site staff.


Job Requirements

 (a) Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Materials
Science, or a related technical field.
(b) Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control, preferably in
precast concrete, infrastructure, or industrial construction.
(c) Certification in Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001:2015 (Lead
Auditor or Internal Auditor), ACI Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
is an added advantage
(d) Strong understanding of project quality plans (PQPs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs),
and related documentation.
(e) Familiarity with international standards such as ASTM, ACI, BS, EN, ISO, and relevant
local construction codes.
