Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Technical Engineer is responsible for technical coordination, design management, drawing control, and interface management for the erection of Segmental Box Girders (SBG) using Segment Lifters, Launching Gantries, and Trestles, including bearing installation. The role ensures all temporary works and permanent works designs, shop drawings, kinematics, Post-tensioning (PT) drawings, and elongation reports are properly developed, reviewed, tracked, and distributed to stakeholders. The Technical Engineer acts as the central point for safe and compliant bridge erection execution, reporting to the Technical Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain drawing registers, ensure controlled distribution of IFC and shop drawings, and track revisions and approvals. 
  • Check and submit temporary works designs, erection calculations, and shop drawings for SBGs, launching gantries, trestles, and scaffolds. 
  • Prepare and review launching kinematics, lifting plans, bar schedules, bearing layouts, PT shop drawings, and elongation reports. 
  • Identify technical risks, propose mitigation measures, and maintain a risk register throughout design and execution phases. 
  • Coordinate technical interfaces among clients, designers, contractors, CICE, and internal project teams. 
  • Supervise and guide junior engineers, draftsmen, and site staff, allocate tasks, and conduct training/workshops. 
  • Prepare reports, method statements, progress updates, and documentation for management, clients, and audits. 
  • Promote continuous improvement by implementing lessons learned, innovative solutions, and best practices. 
  • Ensure compliance with anti-bribery policies and project standards in all technical activities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in bridge, viaduct, LRT/MRT or segmental construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Temporary Works, Bearings, PT works, Launching Gantries and Trestle Systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and Excel and technical document management tools.
  • Experience coordinating with design consultants and CICE is an advantage.
