Job Description
Virgin Voyages is looking for a passionate and service-driven Bar Server to join the Food & Beverage team onboard. This role is ideal for Malaysian candidates who enjoy creating memorable guest experiences, have strong beverage knowledge, and can deliver excellent service in a fast-paced cruise ship environment.
As a Bar Server, you will be responsible for providing friendly, efficient, and professional beverage service to guests. You will have strong knowledge of drink menus, liquor brands, beers, non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, garnishes, and service standards. You will also support upselling initiatives, maintain cleanliness and presentation standards, and ensure all alcohol service policies are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an excellent and memorable guest experience at all times.
- Maintain complete knowledge of menu items, liquor brands, beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverage selections available in the assigned outlet.
- Understand proper glassware, garnishes, and service presentation for each beverage.
- Maintain knowledge of table numbers, station assignments, outlet setup, operating hours, menus, price range, capacity, and dress code.
- Serve wine and champagne confidently and professionally.
- Interact with guests, provide beverage recommendations, promote drinks, and upsell premium brands where appropriate.
- Suggest suitable alternative cocktails or beverage options based on guest preferences.
- Ensure bar products, equipment, and cleaning materials are used responsibly and cost-effectively.
- Inspect assigned stations and service areas for cleanliness, readiness, and presentation; address any deficiencies promptly.
- Accurately enter guest orders into the system and monitor tabs for any required corrections.
- Carry out clear-down routines after service and ensure all glasses, bottles, and service items meet company standards.
- Escalate guest complaints to the Bar Supervisor and assist in resolving issues professionally.
- Stay informed about onboard services, features, and activities in order to answer guest questions accurately.
- Ensure compliance with company alcohol service policies and notify the Bar Supervisor if guests or crew are at risk of breaching policy.
