About the Role
The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing high-quality and accurate legal advice and support to the organization across a broad range of legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts; managing legal risks; supporting corporate governance; and liaising with external counsel when necessary. The Legal Counsel works closely with internal stakeholders to align legal strategies with business objectives while safeguarding the company’s legal and reputational interests.Roles and Responsibilities:
1) Review of all legal documentation and provision of legal support and advise including:
2) Contract management
3) Assist Head of Department by alternating for meetings/committees/conference calls including industry meetings and meetings with Directors of the Board.
4) Assist Head of Department by taking the lead in engagement with relevant stakeholders in preparing all submissions to the regulator for approvals.
5) Assist Head of Department to maintain and create awareness to the relevant stakeholders for regulatory changes/ developments by preparing the update/ communication on such changes/ developments.
6) Handle case management internally as soon as a social media matter is identified and arises including drafting and reviewing relevant internal communication, representing the Company to obtain external legal advise as necessary , providing updates to the media team and other affected departments on legal process and recourse, representing the Company with the HOD in litigation cases, preparing company witnesses, collating relevant evidence/documents from the various internal departments and social media in preparation for instructing solicitors pertaining to new and on-going trials.
