About the Role

This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, compliance, and efficiency of an organization’s technology systems, processes, and controls in accordance with approved AIA Group Policies. The role is crucial in mitigating risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing operational effectiveness through framework design and strategic approaches. The assurance process functions as an independent reviewer and assessor across all technology projects against mandatory standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and quality of products or services, ensuring adherence to the governance framework, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

1. Governance Framework and Development

  • Develop and implement the Technology Governance & Assurance framework and procedures across AIA MY and respective portfolios.

  • Ensure alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal best practices.

  • Continuously review and update governance processes to ensure relevance and effectiveness at the organizational/enterprise level.

  • Assist in ensuring that applicable policies and procedures are defined across all portfolios.

2. Agile Delivery Governance & Assurance

  • Ensure delivery conformance to governed standards, policies, and agile methodology.

  • Implement mitigation strategies and lead audits to assess delivery effectiveness based on the defined agile methodology.

  • Provide strategic solutions across all technology platforms and the technology delivery life cycle based on Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards.

  • Function as an independent assurance team to provide feedback and analysis to senior stakeholders.

  • Act as an influencer and change catalyst for respective portfolios to ensure agile and delivery methodologies adhere to enterprise standards and defined frameworks.

  • Advise and collaborate with portfolio delivery teams on best practices and methods to enhance delivery effectiveness and address communication gaps.

3. Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure that governance processes comply with regulatory, legal, and contractual obligations or documented strategies.

  • Identify and assess potential risks related to quality and governance across portfolios and supporting technology teams.

  • Ensure adherence to defined technology frameworks and guidelines across teams, proactively identifying areas of non-compliance and highlighting them to respective teams and senior stakeholders.

  • Track and update quality metrics to monitor overall quality performance.

  • Identify vulnerabilities and oversee security risk mitigation.

4. IT Controls and Assurance

  • Set and enforce high-quality IT control standards across Technology teams.

  • Promote best practices in software and product testing, ensuring methodologies meet industry benchmarks.

  • Ensure adherence to data protection policies and best practices.

  • Ensure best practices in software development, change management, and IT infrastructure.

  • Conduct gap assessments and drive improvements in IT operational processes and efficiencies.

  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in quality processes and tools.

5. Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Manage, coach, and/or mentor Technology teams through leadership, training, strategic solutions, professional advice, and instilling best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including development, operations, and business units—to ensure the governance framework is integrated into all stages of the project or delivery life cycle.

  • Act as a point of escalation for technology governance and assurance issues.

6. Reporting and Communication

  • Provide regular reports on technology assurance and performance, including key metrics, compliance issues, and improvement initiatives.

  • Communicate governance updates, risks, and action plans to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Foster transparency and accountability within technology teams regarding adherence to the defined technology framework.

7. Audit and Review

  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with governance policies and identify areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide assurance on IT controls (e.g., documentation and responses to audit findings).

  • Implement corrective actions and ensure proper IT controls are in place and effective based on audit outcomes.

8. Technology and Tools Management

  • Select and manage tools that support governance, quality management, and testing processes.

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending tools that enhance governance and efficiency.

9. Others

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 5 years of experience in Technology Risk, Compliance, Governance, Control & Audit, with at least 3–5 years in a technical role such as Development, Project Management, Scrum Master, Test Manager, and/or Delivery (preferred).

  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, PowerBI, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, GitHub, and/or other development or testing tools.

  • Experience with document management and reporting is beneficial.

  • Good knowledge of the insurance domain is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills, process methodologies, strategic thinking, and attention to detail regarding best practices implementation.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry standards relevant to the organization is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of quality processes, compliance standards, testing methodologies, and governance models.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience in project management and process improvement.

  • An enthusiastic, “roll up your sleeves” mentality.

  • Consistently produces high-quality work.

  • IT Governance-related certifications (e.g., COBIT, Six Sigma, CGEIT, ITIL, or similar) are a plus.
