POSITION SUMMARY
Purpose: To lead the Malaysia Tanjung Langsat Cryogenic Manufacturing Teams in development and executing cryogenic air separation, cryogenic hydrocarbon separation and other technology related equipment fabrication in shops and sites, as well as plant repair and retrofit in support of the various global engineering teams and operations. The incumbent plans and manages the resources for all functions within the group.
Nature and Scope:
This position is accountable for the successful management of the Asia manufacturing facility at Tanjung Langsat for proprietary manufacturing. Responsibilities extend from the health and welfare of all employees, visitors and contractors at the sites, through to the recruitment and development of staff, project and financial management, and implementation of policies, procedures and systems which support GEMTE strategic objectives in support of the businesses globally.
This position is accountable for all aspects of cold box/skid manufacturing, this entails understanding and translating customer and business requirements into effective manufacturing to achieve success in the marketplace, as well as delivering on all facets of bid and project commitments, new manufacturing development and deployment.
The position integrates the endeavors of the TL manufacturing team in developing and supplying products which are competitive and profitable in each business area and market. The job holder is the key decision maker in TL manufacturing, e.g. recruiting, training & developing people for buildup and improvement of the facility’s capacity; staff and craft resourcing of projects; identification and selection of suitable sub-contractors. Responsibilities extend to the forecasting of workload and resource demand, and making appropriate organizational, local policy, staffing and budgetary decisions.
To fulfill the requirements of the position, the incumbent must develop close working relationships and work collaboratively with China Caojing Manufacturing Teams, Engineering, Project, Procurement, Sales and Commercial Management, HR, F&A, IT, outsourcing partners, key customers and external suppliers, Approval Authorities.
In summary, this position is accountable for achieving success in the international marketplace by providing cost competitive and valuable proprietary manufacturing while maintaining the high quality, safety, reliability.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accountable for the development of the manufacturing facilities at Tanjung Langsat, to ensure that skills and resources meet engineering and production capacity requirements. An important aspect is working with various global organizations to align and implement manufacturing strategies and goals with the business needs and associated business strategies to maximize and optimize the deployment of the facilities in the supply of AP proprietary equipment in support of our SOG and SOE activities globally.
Accountable for sustaining the successful operation of the Tanjung Langsat manufacturing facility whilst recruiting, developing & motivating manufacturing staff to operate the manufacturing facilities, provide the effective manufacturing functional supports to global business.
Accountable for the personal safety of all employees, visitors and contractors associated with the facilities. Responsible for following all Air Products global and local EH&S standards.
Systematic review of skills gaps and training/development needs of the manufacturing team is an important responsibility, including participation in HRP Process. Lead systematic planning and evaluation of personnel development and training, with particular focus on development of future leaders and succession planning.
Accountable for ensuring that the manufacturing facilities including fabrication follow and participate in developing AP policies, procedures and standards for manufacturing, and associated activities.
Deliver quality, schedule and cost commitments of project performance and commitments.
Development and maintenance of strong working relationships with China Caojing Manufacturing Teams, and related company functions regionally and globally, in order to develop good communications, understanding, trust and effective co-operation and exploit global resources and synergies to maximum mutual advantage.
Deliver manufacturing competitiveness including development, deployment, sustainment, and continuous improvement.
Work with the relevant Business Area, Legal, Financial, Logistical and Tax Departments etc. in establishing and maintaining appropriate relationships with Malaysia ministries and government authorities to facilitate efficient project execution.
Budget setting and control responsibility for both overhead and direct expenditure of the manufacturing facility. Perform all personnel related management tasks including appraisals, HR planning, training, recruitment, variable compensation etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
>15 years in Manufacturing or related Mechanical field.
Must be well versed in management systems and evolve such systems to complement the requirements of a changing and expanding business.
A good working knowledge of businesses, contractual and financial matters is essential, together with a sound understanding of the business processes.
Proven track record in engineering/ project/ management roles with broadly based engineering knowledge and experience in manufacturing industries. Previous commercial experience desirable.
Good leadership, communication and organizational skills are required, with an ability to establish, develop and lead teams.
Must have good inter-personal skills to deal professionally with company people at all levels, and with customers, local authorities and others.
Have experience of cross-cultural aspects of working within a multi-national organization and proven ability to build relationships.
Incumbent is expected to have bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. Additional education including MBA will be desirable.
