Job Description

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Guest Welcome & Reception

  • Greet guests warmly at the café and hotel reception.
     
  • Assist with hotel room inquiries, check-in/check-out procedures.
     
  • Provide information on café menu, specialty coffee, waffles, and daily specials.
     
  • Manage café reservations, walk-ins, and waiting lists.
     
  • Answer phone calls, WhatsApp, and social media messages professionally.
     

2. Bar Service & Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve beverages:
     
    • Specialty coffee
       
    • Tea & herbal drinks (e.g., The Base Tea)
       
    • Fresh juices, mocktails, signature drinks
       
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and presentation follow brand standards.
     
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene of bar counter at all times.
     
  • Help with simple café plating items (waffles, desserts, light food if required).
     

3. Front Counter Operations

  • Take orders accurately using POS system.
     
  • Handle payments (cash, card, e-wallet) and balance the cash drawer.
     
  • Upsell café specials, waffle deals, room upgrades, and merchandise.
     
  • Prepare receipts, invoices, and LO support documents (for corporate guests).
     
  • Monitor inventory levels for bar ingredients, takeaway packaging, and front counter supplies.
     

4. Hospitality & Customer Experience

  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations (coffee notes, food pairing, room types).
     
  • Handle customer complaints calmly and professionally.
     
  • Coordinate with kitchen, barista, housekeeping, and operations for smooth workflow.
     
  • Maintain grooming, uniform, and professional attitude at all times.
     

5. Cleanliness & Safety

  • Keep bar, counter area, POS system, and tools clean and organised.
     
  • Follow hygiene and food safety SOPs (washing, sanitising, equipment care).
     
  • Ensure café lobby and reception area remain tidy and presentable.
     
  • Assist with closing/opening duties following checklist.

  • Strong communication skills (English & BM).
     
  • Friendly, confident, and well-presented.
     
  • Basic coffee knowledge (training provided).
     
  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced environment.
     
  • Good problem-solving skills and teamwork spirit.
     
  • Basic computer literacy (POS, WhatsApp Business, booking systems).
     

Experience

  • 6 months – 1 year experience in:
     
    • Café bar / barista
       
    • Front desk / reception
       
    • F&B service or hospitality
      (Fresh applicants with good attitude are welcome.)
       

Education

  • Minimum SPM. Diploma in Hospitality / F&B is an advantage.
     

Work Conditions

  • Shift-based (morning/afternoon/evening).
     
  • Able to work weekends & public holidays.
     
  • Requires standing for long periods.
     
  • Fast-paced café + hotel environment.
