Job Description

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features for our web application and related services (frontend + backend).
• Develop responsive, mobile- and web-friendly UIs using React.
• Build and maintain RESTful/backend services using Node.js.
• Work with our relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, InfluxDB, Redis) to design efficient schemas and queries.
• Collaborate with the hardware team to integrate backend services with IoT devices via MQTT, ensuring reliable bi-directional device communication.
• Participate in the full software lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, and/or end-to-end) to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Document features, APIs, and system behavior clearly for use by other developers, QA, and internal teams.
• Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to help drive the development of new products and improve existing systems.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across the stack, including device connectivity, API, and data layer issues.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Work within our containerized deployment environment (Docker/Swarm) and coordinate with DevOps on releases across sandbox and production environments.
• Contribute to system reliability, performance, and scalability improvements as the platform grows.

Job Requirements

 Must-Have:

• Proven professional experience with Node.js for backend development.
• Proven professional experience with React for frontend development.
• Experience building responsive web applications that work well on both desktop and mobile browsers.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB) schema design, queries, optimization.
• Experience with RESTful API design and integration.
• Experience writing automated tests (unit/integration) and following test-driven development practices.
• Experience writing clear technical documentation (API docs, feature specs, internal wikis, etc.).
• Understanding of asynchronous, event-driven programming and real-time data handling.
• Comfortable working in a Git-based collaborative workflow (pull requests, code review, CI/CD).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug across the full stack.
• A curious, self-driven mindset with a genuine interest in exploring new technologies and applying them to real product problems.

Highly Desirable:

• Experience with MQTT or other lightweight messaging/pub-sub protocols (AMQP, WebSockets) especially in an IoT context.
• Experience with Redis for caching/session/queue management.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized application deployment.
• Experience with time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB) for metrics/telemetry data.
• Exposure to payment gateway integrations.
• Experience working in a microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki) is a plus.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Familiarity with IoT device management concepts (device provisioning, telemetry ingestion, remote command/control).
• Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced product environment.
• Track record of prototyping with emerging tools/frameworks and bringing them into production.

• Strong communication skills, you'll need to coordinate closely with hardware/firmware engineers, not just other software developers.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally in a small, fast-moving team.
