Job Description

About the Role

Own the full product development journey, from idea, research and formulation to sampling, costing, packaging, compliance, launch readiness and continuous product improvement. You will also serve as the internal product expert and owner of the company’s Product Wiki / knowledge base.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Product Development (NPD): Identify opportunities through market gaps, consumer needs and category trends. Develop concepts covering target audience, positioning, formulation direction, USPs, pricing assumptions and commercial rationale. Prepare NPD briefs and manage formulation, sampling, testing, costing, packaging, documentation and production timelines from concept to launch.
  • Existing Product Renovation (RPD): Identify opportunities for reformulation, ingredient enhancement, taste improvement, packaging upgrades, cost optimisation and product extensions. Prioritise improvements using customer feedback, complaints, sales feedback and competitor developments while maintaining quality, positioning, compliance and commercial viability.
  • Product and Ingredient Research: Research ingredients, formulations, competing products, category trends and consumer needs. Review scientific literature, supplier documentation and technical references. Document ingredient rationale and product differentiation, and identify emerging ingredients, formats and technologies.
  • Product Wiki / Knowledge Management: Build and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for assigned products, including formulation, ingredients, functions, USPs, target audience, usage, research, certifications, FAQs, customer objections, competitor comparisons, approved talking points, compliance boundaries and training materials. Keep it current as the single source of truth across teams.
  • Supplier, Manufacturer and Sample Management: Work with OEM / ODM manufacturers, ingredient and packaging suppliers, and laboratories. Assess samples, quotations, specifications, COAs and supporting documents. Compare quality, formulation capability, MOQ, cost, lead time and reliability, and coordinate sampling revisions.
  • Costing and Commercial Feasibility: Monitor COGS, MOQ, packaging, manufacturing and other product costs. Work with Finance and Management on feasibility and target margins, balancing quality, formulation, selling price and profitability.
  • Packaging Development: Coordinate packaging structure, format, copy, required information and artwork with Design, manufacturers and regulatory stakeholders. Manage packaging upgrades for existing products.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Coordination: Coordinate documentation for regulatory submission, review and compliance checks. Maintain complete records, approved claims, supporting evidence and communication boundaries, and flag misleading or unsupported product communication before publication.
  • Launch Readiness and Internal Training: Ensure documentation, packaging, pricing, samples and training materials are ready before launch. Prepare product briefs, FAQs, ingredient information, USPs, competitor comparisons and education materials. Train Marketing, Sales, E-commerce, Customer Service and other relevant teams, and support accurate consumer communication.
  • Post-Launch Review: Gather customer and internal feedback, identify issues involving taste, packaging, usage, pricing, understanding and positioning, and maintain an improvement roadmap for existing SKUs.
  • Cross-Functional Project Management: Coordinate Management, Marketing, E-commerce, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, Design, suppliers and manufacturers. Maintain clear timelines, responsibilities and follow-up, keeping stakeholders aligned on strategy, positioning, cost and launch readiness.

How Success Is Measured

  • NPD projects delivered on schedule and successful, fully prepared product launches.
  • Target COGS / gross margin achievement and effective cost control.
  • Quality and impact of improvements to existing products.
  • Complete, accurate and consistently updated Product Wiki documentation.
  • Effective supplier and manufacturer project management and follow-up.
  • Packaging, product documentation and regulatory / compliance readiness before launch.
  • Internal training readiness and consistent product knowledge across teams.
