Job Description

Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.

To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

What You'll Do

Transforming the digital products supporting our Functions is a critical enabler of success. This is a dynamic environment, and as such the Product Owner will be crucial in helping to define the digitally enabled future of Global Risk function at BCG.

To help execute this transformation, we need a Product Owner that will lead our Global Risk digital product squad in setting, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by the Squad to ensure a best-in-class sustainable experience. The Product Owner will take end-to-end ownership of Squad goals, set product roadmap and vision, and drive value realization by translating the internal client voice and needs into product features. These products include some custom applications such as the Blueprint. Blueprint is leveraged to track, manage and report on risk in digital case execution and to enable teams to comply with regulations such as the EU AI Act. Blueprint is essential to a diverse stakeholder group from BCG project teams to Finance, Risk and Compliance. The product owner will engage with stakeholders at all levels of seniority and ensure the application continues to evolve alongside business needs.

Working with Squad members without line management authority over them will be key—you are a servant-leader and embody that in how you approach the work. You will coordinate closely with your Portfolio Lead to stay aligned on business goals and make sure your Squad is progressing and delivering against them. You will also represent the voice of the internal client and make sure that Squad members understand their needs and preferences. To get this work done, you will own and prioritize the backlog of user stories that your Squad members will use to inform their work, and be responsible for supporting and motivating your squad members

Among your responsibilities, you will:

Deliver business results and customer value

  • Tracking product performance to inform future work
  • Delivering on specific and measurable KPIs to be defined for your Squad
  • Managing relevant product budget process and supporting Product Portfolio Lead in engaging with funding process

Serve as the voice of the internal client

  • Translating the voice and needs of internal clients into user stories, engaging users as needed
  • Engaging in continuous discovery (e.g., via surveys & interviews) to understand internal client needs
  • Leveraging empirical and qualitative data to assess feature performance and inform prioritization
  • Determining tradeoffs involving customer value, cost, and speed to execution
  • Representing customer needs to ensure they are understood and integrated into the Squad’s work
  • Proactively seeking customer feedback to learn and better understand their needs and requirements
  • Facilitating product demos to empower Squad members with real-time feedback from customer

Oversee what is delivered by the Squad and when

  • Prioritizing work through a well-organized backlog of user stories and clearly communicating what needs to be done and by when
  • Defining and clearly communicating acceptance criteria for output based on business & customer needs

Support and enable the Squad to get its work done

  • Regularly engaging with the Squad to offer feedback on work-in-progress and clarify requirements
  • Engaging with Chapter Leads regarding resourcing and functional expertise required in Squad
  • Providing feedback as part of performance management of Squad members and other members of the Portfolio
  •

Set an overall vision to direct and inform the Squad’s work

  • Working closely with the Product Portfolio Lead to understand and drive alignment on the Portfolio’s business strategy, goals, and objectives
  • Translating Portfolio objectives into a clear vision (e.g., via KPIs, sprint goals) for your Squad to inform the creation and prioritization of the Squad's backlog of work
  • Sharing information about the Squad’s output and priorities with other Product Owners to ensure alignment across the organization

Enable the organization’s new way of working

  • Modelling behaviors to support the organization’s transformation to a new way of working
  • Actively creating and maintaining a Squad culture based on the organization and Agile behaviors
  • Providing informal and formal feedback within context of larger performance management system
