Job Description

We are seeking a highly disciplined and seasoned Senior Operations Specialist to spearhead our Central Dealing and Trade Life-Cycle management in Malaysia. You will be responsible for the end-to-end reconciliation and settlement of trades. This role requires a "self-starter" mentality, as you will work with high levels of independence while ensuring seamless alignment with regional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Central Dealing & Execution
    Execute buy/sell orders for various asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, or Unit Trusts) in accordance with portfolio manager instructions and fund mandates.
    Monitor market conditions and ensure Best Execution policy compliance.
    Manage relationships with brokers and counterparties to ensure competitive pricing and timely execution.
  2. Trade Reconciliation & Control
    Perform daily trade matching and reconciliations between internal systems, brokers, and custodian banks.
    Investigate and resolve any trade breaks or discrepancies (price, quantity, or settlement date) within T+1 timelines.
    Ensure the integrity of data within the Portfolio Management System (PMS).
  3. Trade Settlements & Lifecycle Management
    Oversee the full settlement process, ensuring all trades are confirmed and settled accurately across Malaysian and offshore markets.
    Coordinate with custodians and prime brokers to manage corporate actions, income collection, and proxy voting if required.
    Monitor cash flow movements to ensure sufficient liquidity for trade funding.
  4. Stakeholder Management & Reporting
    Act as the primary liaison for the Singapore HQ, providing regular operational updates and escalation of critical issues.
    Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams to ensure all activities adhere to Securities Commission (SC) Malaysia and MAS (Singapore) regulations.
    Prepare monthly operational risk reports and KPI dashboards for regional management.

Technical Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years in middle-office or back-office operations within Investment Management or Private Banking.
Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the capital markets and global settlement cycles

Competencies & Soft Skills
Independence: Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal local supervision.
Precision: High attention to detail; a "zero-error" mindset regarding trade data.
Communication: Excellent command of English (written and verbal) to facilitate clear reporting to the Singapore HQ.
Adaptability: Ability to manage Singapore/Malaysia market holiday overlaps and regional time-zone coordination.
