About the Role

We believe stories of resilience, ingenuity, and everyday impact have the power to inspire action and build collective momentum for a just energy transition.

That’s why we’re looking for a Storyteller who leads with video but also writes with impact — someone who can translate community realities into stories that change hearts and minds. You’ll have space to experiment, shape our storytelling approach, and set the pace for how Bright Spots communicates its mission.

You’ll work closely with the Management and cross functional teams, to design and deliver stories that align with Bright Spots’ goals. This is an individual contributor role, but with scope for growth: you’ll lay the foundation of our storytelling approach today, and as Bright Spots expands, you’ll have the opportunity to become the leader of a future storytelling team.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the creation of short-form video stories that showcase the resilience, ingenuity, and everyday impact of the communities we work with.
  • Write scripts, captions, and short-form narratives that amplify video storytelling and make it land across different platforms.
  • Experiment with formats, styles, and storytelling approaches to bring stories to life.
  • Design content strategies that align with organisational goals, connecting storytelling to programs, communications, advocacy, and fundraising objectives.
  • Plan and storyboard content for clarity, engagement, and impact.
  • Shoot, edit, and produce videos; write content for social media, newsletters, and other channels.
  • Organise and maintain a story bank for ongoing use and reference.
  • Track audience engagement and adjust content strategies based on analytics.
  • You’ll work directly with the management as well as cross functional teams to
  • Work out resourcing needs such as freelancers or collaborators, but retain ownership of the direction, standards, and pace of storytelling.

Job Requirements

What we’re looking for

  • Someone who want purposeful work in the social sector, who is strongly motivated to tell stories in a way that empowers underserved communities
  • A creator who leads with video but can also write with impact, ensuring stories land across formats.
  • Strong storytelling skills and the ability to make narratives authentic, engaging, and actionable.
  • Experience producing short-form video and written content for multiple platforms is a bonus.
  • Comfort with video editing and post-production software.
  • Skill in storyboarding and structuring content for impact.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and audience engagement measurement.
  • Curiosity, empathy, and respect for the communities we work with.
  • Ability to collaborate across multifunctional teams to align content with organisational goals.
  • Willingness to travel to off-grid areas across the country and the region
