Finance Manager (Hybrid role)

About Us:

Amis Group of Companies is a modern, tech-driven accounting and Xero implementation firm serving SMEs in Malaysia. We focus on cloud accounting, automation, and e-Invoicing solutions, and we are on a business growth journey.

We are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager who can manage full sets of accounts while also acting as a finance business partner to the CEO.

Must-Have

  • 5–8 years experience in accounting / finance (SME environment preferred)
  • Able to prepare full sets of accounts independently
  • Strong understanding of cash flow, budgeting, and AR management
  • Familiar with Malaysian tax requirements (SST, CP204, WHT, eInvoicing and others)
  • Comfortable working directly with business owners
  • Comfortable with new technologies
  • Commercial mindset, not just compliance-driven

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in professional services or accounting firms
  • Exposure to commission-based payroll
  • Experience managing outsourced accountants or auditors
  • Experience in automations in accounting & finance processes

Not Suitable If You

  • Only want to do bookkeeping
  • Prefer strictly defined tasks with no decision-making
  • Are uncomfortable challenging business decisions

Job Requirements

Responsibility

Financial Accounting & Full Sets

  • Prepare and close monthly full sets of accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

Cash Flow & Financial Control

  • Monitor monthly cash flow position and cash runway
  • Manage company cash prudently and flag risks early
  • Establish minimum cash buffer and spending discipline
  • Support CEO with financial decision-making

Budgeting & Cost Management

  • Build and maintain annual company budget
  • Track actual vs budget monthly
  • Identify cost overruns and margin leakage
  • Advise management on sustainable spending and hiring affordability

Accounts Receivable (AR) Management

  • Own AR ageing and collection performance
  • Work with Operations and Sales to enforce payment terms
  • Track and improve DSO (Days Sales Outstanding)

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit SST returns
  • Prepare and submit Withholding Tax (WHT)
  • Prepare CP204 estimates and revisions
  • Liaise with tax agents and auditors
  • Ensure compliance while avoiding tax overpayment

Management Reporting & Business Support

  • Prepare monthly management reports and financial analysis
  • Support sales commission calculations
  • Track marketing spend versus results
  • Perform scenario analysis for hiring and growth decisions

Process Improvement

  • Improve accounting workflows and controls
  • Prepare accounting SOPs for future delegation
