Job Description

Job Purpose and Impact

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Category Lead to take full ownership of a key business category. This role is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive revenue growth, market share, and profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of consumer behavior and market dynamics.

Key Accountabilities

  • Category Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies for the category, including customer development, product development, pricing, innovation systems, and channel strategy.
  • Customer-Driven Value Proposition: Develop and communicate Cargill’s value proposition by understanding customer needs.
  • P&L Ownership: Manage the category’s financial performance, including profitability and returns.
  • Market & Consumer Insights: Analyze market trends, customer data, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and inform decision-making.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee product launches, phase-outs, and portfolio optimization in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, R&D, Product Line, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure alignment and execution of category plans.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor category KPIs and provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in category management, product management, or commercial strategy.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience with data analytics tools and financial modeling.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience in one of the key categories such as Chocolate Confectionery, Bakery, Dairy, or Beverages.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passionate about consumer trends and market innovation.
