About the Role:
You will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance primarily for CBRE’s Design and Build business line in Singapore (the “D&B Business”) and real estate business lines in Indonesia (the business lines in Indonesia and the D&B Business (together the Businesses”) .
As a member of the Southeast Asia Legal team, you will also work with the other legal counsels on cross border transactions and global projects. You will report to the Legal Counsel for Southeast Asia, based in Singapore.
What You’ll Do:
- Review real estate related commercial contracts, design and build contracts and other legal documents all primarily relating to the Businesses as required.
- Provide legal advice to the Businesses and work with the Businesses to prepare, negotiate and finalize commercial agreements with clients (including RFPs, LOIs, engagement letters, service agreements and other any other agreements and documents that are necessary and or relevant to the Business).
- Upon specific requests and working with global litigation team and insurance teams, resolve pre-litigation, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution issues.
- Upon specific requests and working with global litigation and insurance teams, advising, co-ordinating and strategizing company’ legal position in cases of litigation and arbitration.
- Assist in the preparation of in-house training materials and training.
- Keeping abreast of law developments that are relevant to CBRE’s Businesses as well as other relevant business lines.
- Any other ad hoc legal, operational and administrative requests as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
- Qualified Malaysia lawyer with degree obtained In Malaysia, the UK or other common law jurisdictions.
- 5-8 years of experience gained from reputable international law firms (in common law jurisdictions or the US ). Previous US MNC experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity/ previous experience advising other SEA countries such as Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.
- Able to read and draft in Bahasa Malay or Indonesia.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Independent, ability to multi-task, work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a team player (and strategic partner) with the business stakeholders, functional leaders as well as with the CBRE legal team as a whole, self-driven, results oriented and have good interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work on a broad range of legal matters
- Real estate, project management and construction experience and having a strong interest in real estate services industry preferred.
