The Shift Engineer is responsible for the 24/7 operation of the Data Centre. This role encompasses , operations, daily inspections, shift handover, break-fix, self performed maintenance, reporting and most importantly manage the on- site customer with regards to reporting and taking charge of Incidents during the shift. A key requirement of this role is that the candidate hold a B0 Chargeman License.
Key Tasks:
- Conduct the shift handover including all alarms and LOTO clearances.
- Prepare daily reports as required.
- Manage and operate the BMS/SCADA Systems in the NOC
- Undertake critical systems isolations and re-energization for all PPM and Emergency works.
- Undertake daily briefings, Toolbox talks and sub-contractor briefings.
- Ensure that the Daily inspections are carried out and any anomalies/defects are raised through CMMS work tickets
- Assist the CFM in all Incident Reporting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Act as the Electrical Competent Person (CP) in providing engineering and technical assessment towards to troubleshooting, identifying the appropriate causes, review and implement the appropriate solutions to be executed by the Sub-Contractors and other service providers.
- Provide 24-hour emergency support. Function as the initial first response to any emergency situation and be familiar and trained in the appropriate process and procedures.
- Carry out routine inspections on the property with standard checklist, identify any defects or irregularities and follow up with tenant on necessary repair/ reinstatement /regularization. Timely renewal of licenses and certificates, submission of service reports by tenants.
- Plan and execute self performed preventive maintenance and corrective work.
- Supervise term contractors or service providers of both subcontractors of the FMC and term contractors & ad hoc contractors to ensure that works are carried out satisfactorily and in accordance with the contracted scope of work (SoW) and terms and conditions of the contract.
- Attend to calls relating to technical matters and provide direction and instructions for resolution.
- Ensure all Safety rules and guidelines are followed.
- Train the Shift Team members in operational requirements
- Draft out EOP/SOP/MOP as directed by the Technical Manager/CFM
- Any other works required as per EC (Energy Commission) requirement for a B0 Chargeman registered to the said property.
- Perform any other work necessary for effective operation of the Data Centre as directed by the CFM
Requirements for the Role:
- Must possess a current and valid BO Chargeman Certificate for 33 kV installations
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of seven (7) years experience as a licensed electrician. Completion of a formal Apprenticeship Program preferred.
- Experience in the operations and maintenance of critical M&E infrastructure in a data center or other similar facility.
- Prior experience with BMS ( Building Management System), SCADA and and EMS preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Master Electrician license as required by the concerned Malaysian authority. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.
