Position Overview:
The Utilities Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of utilities systems, ensuring reliability, safety, compliance, and sustainability. This includes systems related to electrical supply, water treatment, HVAC, fire protection, and LPG. The role provides technical support, troubleshooting expertise, and performance monitoring aligned with client's standards.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Utilities Operations Management
- Oversee and monitor utilities systems, including HT/LV electrical, HVAC, RO water systems, rainwater harvesting, LPG, sewage, and grease traps.
- Ensure optimal system performance and minimize service interruptions.
2. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
- Develop and implement utilities-specific preventive maintenance plans.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures or malfunctions.
3. Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all utility operations comply with Malaysian regulations (DOSH, DOE, Fire Department standards).
- Maintain required licenses, inspection certifications, and safety documentation.
4. Energy and Water Management
- Monitor energy and water consumption trends and propose efficiency improvements.
- Support sustainability initiatives related to utilities management.
5. Technical Support
- Provide technical expertise for utility-related projects, renovations, and emergency repairs.
- Participate in commissioning and testing of new equipment or system upgrades.
6. Vendor Coordination
- Work with specialist vendors for inspections, repairs, and maintenance contracts related to utilities systems.
- Monitor service quality and adherence to SLAs.
7. Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive operational logs, compliance records, and utilities performance reports.
- Provide updates to the Hard Services Manager on a regular basis.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience managing utilities systems in a facilities environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, HT/LV, water treatment, and fire systems.
- Familiarity with Malaysian codes and regulatory standards.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
