Summary

Commodity Management Specialist / Supplier Development Engineer – Drive Supplier Excellence and Technical Support

We are looking for a Commodity Management Specialist / Supplier Development Engineer to serve as the primary interface between customers and suppliers, ensuring seamless technical communication and supplier quality management. You will support supplier qualification, drive process improvements, and maintain effective relationships with both internal teams and suppliers to meet customer requirements and enhance product quality.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical communication with suppliers and customers.
  • Implement customer requirements and regulatory changes to suppliers.
  • Manage supplier change control data, ensuring compliance with customer part control requirements.
  • Communicate supplier change requests to customers through specified communication portals.
  • Participate in part qualification for various products, including sheet metal, frames, cables, plastics, and metal machining.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of supplier processes such as welding, coating, plating, and machining.
  • Provide technical support for supplier/component issues during qualification processes.
  • Adhere to safety and health rules in all tasks and processes.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and geometric tolerances.
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to document processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and with external customers/suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Typical Experience & Education

  • 4-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
