Job Summary:
The Merchandiser cum Product Designer supports the development of Celovis' jewellery collections by combining creativity with merchandising execution. This role assists in jewellery design, product development, supplier coordination, and merchandising activities to ensure collections are commercially appealing, launched on time, and aligned with Celovis' brand identity. This role contributes to product innovation while ensuring smooth coordination between design, production, and inventory planning. .
Design and Development
- Design jewelleries and products that aligns with the brand’s identity and market trends.
- Develop sketches and drawings of jewellery pieces and products using both traditional methods and computer-aided design software.
- Select appropriate materials and production techniques to achieve desired quality and cost objectives.
- Research and stay updated on emerging trends, customer preferences, competitor activities and industry developments to inspire new designs.
- Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, making adjustments as necessary to ensure quality and alignment with design specifications.
- Ensure all designs adhere to quality standards and are produced within budget and time constraints.
Merchandising & Buying
- Source, select and purchase jewelleries or products that align with the company's brand image and target customer.
- Analyse sales performance, market trends, and consumer preferences to make data-driven buying decisions.
- Prepare and follow up with PO, invoices, payments with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and manage product lines, ensuring a balanced assortment that meets sales and profitability targets.
- Analyse sales data and customer feedback to make informed decisions on product buys, assortments and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with the sales teams to manage inventory levels, ensuring an optimal balance between supply and demand.
Inventory Planning & Stock Management
- Monitor inventory levels, stock holding capacity, stock movement trends, and ageing inventory to maintain healthy inventory turnover.
- Analyse product performance across categories, collections, and sales channels to identify replenishment needs and stock risks.
- Ensure optimal stock coverage based on sales forecasts, demand patterns, and seasonal cycles.
- Execute accurate replenishment planning to minimise stock-outs and avoid excessive overstock situations.
- Maintain proper inventory records and ensure stock data accuracy across systems.
- Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to ensure accurate stock intake, stock transfers, and inventory reconciliation.
Supplier Relationship & Production Management
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and manage the production process.
- Build, manage and strengthen relationships with suppliers and agents, while abiding by company’s policies and guidelines.
- Negotiate with new and existing quality suppliers to achieve best quality, pricing, profit margin, minimum order quantity, payment terms, trading terms and lead times.
- Evaluate supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery, quality standards, and pricing competitiveness.
- Source for new suppliers to meet the company's standard of qualities and profitability.
Collaboration & Support Functions
- Assist in aligning inventory planning with product development direction.
- Provide merchandising insights and inventory analysis to support product assortment planning.
- Coordinate with relevant teams on stock costing, purchase documentation, and inventory reporting.
- Support cross-functional teams with accurate stock and purchasing updates.
- Undertake additional merchandising and operational responsibilities.
