Job Description
The Host/Hostess plays a crucial role in creating the first impression of the restaurant for guests. This position involves greeting, seating, and managing reservations, while ensuring that guests feel welcome and attended to from the moment they arrive. The Hostess is also responsible for maintaining the flow of service by working closely with servers and other front-of-house staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Reception & Seating:
- Greeting Guests: Welcome guests as they enter the restaurant with a warm and friendly demeanor, ensuring they feel comfortable and appreciated.
- Seating Management: Escort guests to their assigned tables and provide menus. Ensure seating arrangements are aligned with restaurant capacity and the flow of service.
- Waitlist Management: If there is a wait, manage guest expectations by providing accurate wait times, keeping guests informed, and offering seating alternatives when necessary.
- Reservation Management: Manage reservations, ensuring accurate bookings and communication with guests. Be proactive in confirming reservations and handling any special requests.
Customer Service:
- Guest Experience: Assist guests with any special needs or requests (e.g., dietary restrictions, seating preferences). Handle guest concerns or complaints promptly, ensuring they are resolved to their satisfaction.
- Liaison with Staff: Work closely with servers and the kitchen to ensure that the dining room is properly managed and guests are seated in a timely manner.

- Answer Phones: Answer incoming phone calls, take reservations, and provide information about the menu or operating hours.
