As an ICT Project Engineer you will be the builder who turns plans into working systems. You will own technical coordination on site, commission network and server components, and produce the runbooks and test evidence operations need to take over. Your role balances hands-on troubleshooting, vendor coordination and structured delivery so projects complete on time and meet performance and security expectations.

Responsibilities

Project Management

• Review ICT infrastructure drawings and technical specifications, then turn them into clear installation plans and material lists.
• Plan and manage medium-sized ICT deliveries from installation through operational handover, keeping scope, schedule and quality aligned.
• Coordinate with consultants, vendors and contractors to resolve technical issues and keep workstreams moving on schedule.
• Prepare technical submissions and ensure installation methodologies meet performance and security expectations.

Site Coordination & Execution

• Lead daily site activities and installation schedules, supervising contractors and subcontractors to meet milestones.
• Oversee structured cabling, fiber optic and telecommunications installation, and validate that work matches approved drawings.
• Commission network and server components on site and perform hands-on troubleshooting to restore or optimise systems.
• Manage site access, permits, safety checks and escalate critical risks to the delivery manager when needed.

Project Documentation & Reporting

• Produce daily and weekly progress reports that highlight status, blockers and next steps for stakeholders.
• Maintain installation records, inspection logs and testing evidence including fiber test results and certification files.
• Track defects and corrective actions through to closure and ensure as-built drawings reflect delivered work.
• Prepare runbooks and handover documentation so operations receive a complete, verifiable package.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in ICT infrastructure engineering, installation or site coordination.
• Proven experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing external vendors during rollouts.
• Exposure to Malaysian client environments or regional projects is an advantage.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Hands-on experience with network infrastructure, including routing, switching and firewall technologies.
• Practical knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and integrating on-premises systems with cloud services.
• Strong familiarity with structured cabling systems, fiber optics, fiber optic testing and certification, and installation quality requirements.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Clear communicator who can explain technical detail to non-technical stakeholders and write concise handover packs.
• Organised and deadline-focused, able to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
• Practical problem-solver who stays calm under pressure and chooses durable, maintainable fixes.
• Able to work independently in both office and site environments, proficient in written and spoken English; Mandarin is an added advantage, and you must be willing to travel to project sites across Malaysia.
