Job Description

Our Direct-To-Consumer segment (D2C), is one of our fastest growing product areas in the market, with an abundance of expansion plans and innovative ideas on hand.

·The Business Unit Analyst supports the financial activities that occur throughout the Business Unit (“BU”) life.

The role is to support the Business Unit Accountant for best in class Finance support for the Business Unit, including:

• Business Partnership incl. Commercial Support

• Project initiation / Closure / Audit support, Revenue Recognition

• Reporting/Analysis/Forecasting

• Cash Management


Business Partnership incl. Commercial support:


• Provides support to the BU assigned

• Upon request, assists with cash flow curve, billing clauses, tax & treasury implications, price estimates at the bid stage

• Participates in processes that enable the project to effectively manage its costs. Assists in identifying and implementing specific cost reductions.

• Assists in review of contract commercial terms and conditions, including tax and payment terms, to identify areas of potential project gross margin improvement, ensures accurate recovery of all costs as defined in the contract & variation orders and ensures non-billable costs are minimized

• Supports BU on daily BAU volume monitoring

• Ensures contractual agreement compliance and participates in audits and resolution activities

• Ensures the Delegation of Authority (“DOA”) is adhered to for write-off of time, expenses, or invoices, non-billable time is approved per DOA, request for continuance of work where required

• Assists in burden reconciliation (including burden bands, percentages, contract type) to ensure burden recoveries are correct & up-to-date and avoid gross margin slippages.


Project Initiation / Closure / Audit Support:

• Set up and maintenance of projects in SAP in accordance with accounting policies, pricing schedules, customer details, payment plans, invoicing calendars, and multicurrency billing

• Assists in the interpretation of contract terms and conditions and ensures that the commercial terms are built into the project set ups to maximize profitability

Business Partnership incl. Commercial support:


• Provides support to the BU assigned

Project Initiation / Closure / Audit Support:

• Set up and maintenance of projects in SAP in accordance with accounting policies, pricing schedules, customer details, payment plans, invoicing calendars, and multicurrency billing

• Assists in the interpretation of contract terms and conditions and ensures that the commercial terms are built into the project set ups to maximize profitability

• Monitors the Comprehensive Portfolio Review projects

• Ensures that projects are financially maintained (change management) and closed once work completed and working capital is collected

• Supports project audits (including client audits)


Reporting / Analysis/ Forecasting:

• Month end closing activities for revenue and cost of sales by ensuring accuracy and proper cut-off, including reconciliation of cost of sales invoices vs billing, accrual of costs and charging out of prepayments

• Revenue recognition in line with MFRS-15, including lump sum calculations

• Prepares trade related reconciliations, including cost of sales, trade prepayments and accruals, accrued and deferred revenue

• Produces and analyzes trend and variance reports as required

• Ensures revenue and costs are matched on a monthly basis through use of cost accruals if required (Including Interco matching)

• Ensure project provisions are correctly accounted for and in line with DOA and MFRS

• Supports the BU on the BU overall profit and loss, customer and product profitability

• Provides the link between Shared Services Centre (SSC) and project for relevant items, providing support to ensure correct cost allocations

• Contributes to the Project forecast to be included in the business unit budget/forecast. Includes liaison with Project Manager and detailed review to ensure its accuracy.

• Responsible for TM1 entry of project forecasts

• Assists with maintenance of SAP/TM1 project assumptions and relevant mapping for actual/forecast reporting

• Ensures the accuracy of financial data as reported in monthly Project Reviews through collaboration with project team

• Works closely with project operations, controls, and billing coordinators to improve project administration processes & effectiveness


Cash Management:

• Works with Business/Project Team, Billing Coordinators and FSC to ensure invoicing plan is in place to maximize DSO days on projects.

• Review DSO reports and assists in the development of corrective action plans.

• Works directly with Billing Coordinators and/or customers to ensure invoices have been received, approved and actioned.

• Provide input into the cash forecast to ensure accuracy and appropriate challenge to expedite cash collection.

• Reviews accrued revenue/AR reports with Business/Project Managers to ensure timely billings and collections.

• Assist as required the Billing Coordinators in the production of customer invoices, credit notes and back up documentation.

• Drives timely recording of third-party invoices


· Provide commercial support to the business unit, including financial performance reporting and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, process and project improvements and

· Month end closing activities process to ensure accuracy and proper cut-off for revenue and cost of sales including revenue recognition as per MFRS 15, cost of sales reconciliation and trade related balance sheet reconciliations


• Review debtors ageing reports and assists in development of corrective action plans and provide inputs into cash forecast to expedite cash collection

• Supports the BU on the BU overall profit and loss, customer and product profitability

• Executes ad-hoc analysis and projects as requested by superiors

• Assists in commercial contract review

• Maintenance of financial data, including set up of projects in ERP and budget / forecast entries in BI tool

• Supports projects to improve efficiencies and improvements to way of working and embrace a mindset of continuous improvement


· Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accountancy or equivalent. Partially completed Professional qualification are encouraged to apply.

· Must be member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA)

· At least 2-3 years working experience in Financial Planning & Analysis

· Must have advanced Excel and Power Point skills

· Able to deal and deliver ad-hoc request with accuracy, short notice and fast paced environment

· Eager to learn and seek knowledge in order to highlight shortcomings and recommend possible improvement to the existing methods

· Knowledge of SAGE system will be added advantage
