This job is responsible to manage the day to day running of the Clinical Skill Laboratory at Faculty of Nursing and help faculty teaching staffs and students in clinical training. This includes providing safe and effective clinical instruction environment and adherence to specific policies and procedures regarding course instruction, student evaluation and related duties.

Supervising students in the Clinical area

• Supervise students in the Planning and Implementation of patient care according to disciplines.
• Supervise students in the importance of giving effective patient care, cost effective through the reduction of infection in patient care
• Supervise students and teach students on nursing procedures according to the various disciplines throughout students clinical practice and till students achieve competency. . Teach and supervise students in the care of patients based on nursing process:
  • Assessment
  • Intervention
  • Evaluation
  • Documentation
  • Giving health education
  • Taking and passing over patients report.
•  Perform the role of a preceptor in Orientation programs.
• Prepare a Orientation package for all new students
• Conduct bedside teaching in the wards based on the learning outcomes
• Assist academic staffs in preparing and teaching nursing skills in the mock ward and during OSCE.
• Assist and supervise students during students practice of nursing. Procedures in the skills lab and mock ward
• Conduct clinical assessment to achieve the objectives of clinical posting in clinical setting to achieve the completion of:
  •  Logbook
  • Nursing process book
  • Student assessment book
• Ensure crosses are given to students after they have achieved a high level of Competency in nursing procedures.
• Ensures that students achieve nursing procedures in the logbook before they proceed o the next semester.
• Provides assistance and supervision to students throughout their clinical practice

Involvement and assist in academic matters

• Assist in the teaching and entering of clinical marks into the barracuda system.
• Assist the lecturers in the teaching of skills procedures in skills lab and mock Ward.
• Prepare equipments prior to teaching of clinical procedures.
• Conduct inventory of clinical equipments, storage of clinical
• Instruments. Maintenance of skills lab, Record.
• Prepare Clinical Teaching files
• Involve in activities organized by faculty such as faculty meeting, Orientation week and any task given by the dean when there is no clinical posting

Qualifications Required Qualifications

•  Minimum Diploma in Nursing
• Have one Post-Basis Specialization Nursing Programme

• Must have minimum 3 years practical Nursing experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Clinical area
