JOB PURPOSE

In this role, you will lead the supply chain function with primary responsibility over procurement, demand planning, and material readiness across the company’s solar projects. You will ensure that materials are sourced, planned, and made available in alignment with project timelines, while working closely with the Logistics function to coordinate delivery and fulfilment. You will play a critical role in ensuring cost efficiency, supply reliability, and seamless coordination across procurement, logistics, engineering, and project execution teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supply Chain Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business and project objectives (cost, timeline, quality, and cashflow optimisation).
- Forecast material demand based on project pipeline, timelines, and business development inputs.
- Establish procurement and supply plans to ensure timely material availability for projects (solar PV, BESS, EV chargers, and related infrastructure).
- Support category planning across key components (PV modules, inverters, mounting structures, cabling, transformers, BOS, and O&M materials).
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Lead end-to-end procurement processes including RFQ, RFP, and RFI.
- Manage supplier evaluation, selection, and due diligence processes.
- Execute competitive sourcing and tendering exercises.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, lead times, and contractual conditions.
- Establish and maintain a robust supplier base (local and international).
- Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets and commercial targets.
Supplier Performance & Risk Management
- Establish and monitor supplier performance KPIs, including: On-time delivery (in coordination with logistics), Quality and defect rates, Warranty responsiveness, Reliability and compliance.
- Identify and mitigate supply risks (lead time volatility, pricing fluctuations, geopolitical risks).
- Develop contingency sourcing strategies for critical materials.
Material Planning & Project Readiness
- Ensure material readiness aligns with project schedules and installation sequencing.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering teams to validate specifications, quantities, and delivery timelines.
- Identify potential material shortages or delays early and implement mitigation plans.
- Drive proactive planning to avoid project delays due to supply chain gaps.
Inventory & Supply Coordination
- Oversee inventory planning and stock management strategies to balance availability and cashflow.
- Monitor stock levels, ageing, and turnover, ensuring optimal inventory positioning.
- Work with internal teams to manage slow-moving or excess inventory.
- Ensure accurate material tracking and allocation across projects.
Logistics Coordination
- Work in close coordination with the Logistics team to ensure smooth execution of material deliveries.
- Align procurement timelines with logistics planning, including shipping schedules, importation, and site delivery requirements.
- Support resolution of delivery issues, delays, and discrepancies in collaboration with the logistics function.
- Ensure clear handover and communication between procurement and logistics to maintain supply chain continuity
Cost Optimisation & Value Engineering
- Drive cost optimisation initiatives across the supply chain without compromising quality or project timelines.
- Support value engineering efforts with Engineering and Project teams to reduce overall project costs (LCOE).
- Track procurement savings and support cost benchmarking initiatives.
- Monitor market trends and raw material price movements to inform sourcing strategies.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Improve procurement and supply chain workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Support implementation and optimisation of ERP systems and procurement tools.
- Standardise processes for sourcing, planning, and supplier management.
- Enhance visibility and tracking of procurement and supply chain activities.
Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with Project, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics teams to align supply chain activities with project milestones.
- Provide regular updates on material status, risks, and mitigation plans to management.
- Engage with external stakeholders (suppliers, certification bodies, authorities) when required.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage the procurement / supply chain team on a day-to-day basis.
- Set clear KPIs and monitor team performance.
- Develop team capabilities in sourcing, planning, negotiation, and supplier management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare procurement and supply chain reports, including Spend analysis, Supplier performance, Cost savings, and Material readiness status
- Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements
JOB COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENT
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple functions.

- Good understanding of supply chain planning, inventory management, and project based environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of import/export processes and supply chain coordination.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education : Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Work Experience :
- Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement and/or supply chain, preferably in renewable energy, construction, or engineering industries.
- Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role is required.
- Exposure to project-based environments (EPC or similar) is highly advantageous.
Skills / Knowledge/ Qualifications :
- Fluency in English language (Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia is an added bonus).
- Proficiency in MS Office (in particular Word, Excel PowerPoint and Power BI).
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software, including experience with AutoCount or similar tools.
- Adept at Excel for data compilation and analysis
