Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role runs the day to day social presence of one of our automotive accounts, from planning through to published post. It covers copywriting, project management of the content calendar, coordination between designers and the client, monthly reporting, and on ground coverage at brand events.
Automotive is an unforgiving category to write for. Specifications, variant names, pricing and campaign terms have to be exact, and the client reviews every word. Priorities also move quickly, so the person in this seat needs a working system strong enough to absorb constant change without losing track of what has been approved, amended or is still pending.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management
- Own the monthly content calendar end to end, from planning and briefing through approvals to scheduled publishing.
- Maintain a single working tracker where the status, owner and deadline of every asset is visible at any point.
- Run multiple concurrent workstreams, campaign, always-on and event content, without letting any one of them slip.
- Absorb late changes and revised direction from the client while keeping a clear record of what has been approved and what is still outstanding.
- Flag timeline and resourcing risks to the account lead early, with a proposed way forward.
Copywriting
- Write social copy across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and other assigned platforms, adapting tone and length to each while holding brand voice.
- Verify every specification, price, variant name, warranty term and campaign mechanic against approved brand material before anything is submitted.
- Proofread all copy and on-artwork text, including designer-set text, before it goes to the client.
- Keep a working reference of approved brand terminology, model naming conventions and mandatory disclaimers, and apply it consistently.
Social media strategy
- Translate brand and campaign objectives into monthly content pillars and platform-specific plans.
- Recommend formats, posting cadence and creative angles based on platform performance data and category behaviour.
- Monitor competitor and category activity in Malaysian automotive, and bring relevant observations into planning.
- Contribute ideas to campaign brainstorms and support the account lead on client-facing decks.
Brief execution and approvals
- Write complete design briefs covering objective, copy, references, specifications, format and deadline, so designers are not left filling gaps.
- Route work through internal review and client approval, and consolidate scattered feedback into single, unambiguous rounds of amendment.
- Chase approvals proactively and keep the client informed on where each item stands.
- Act as day to day contact for the client on content matters, escalating commercial or relationship issues to the account lead.
Reporting
- Compile weekly and monthly performance reports covering reach, engagement, follower growth, video views and campaign-specific metrics.
- Interpret the numbers rather than presenting them, explaining what performed, what did not, and what the next month should change as a result.
- Track progress against agreed account KPIs and surface shortfalls before the reporting cycle closes.
On ground event coverage
- Attend launches, roadshows, test drives and brand activations to capture live content for Stories and real time posting.
- Work alongside the videographer on the day to make sure required shots, angles and talent moments are captured.
- Publish live content during the event to agreed timing, with copy already checked against approved messaging.
- Available for occasional weekend and public holiday coverage when the event calendar requires it, with time off in lieu.
Job Requirements
CHARACTER TRAITS WE LOOK FOR
Detail oriented. Accuracy is treated as non negotiable, not as something to be caught later. Typos, wrong figures, mismatched variant names and outdated specifications are found before work leaves the agency. Work is checked twice, and the second check is against source material rather than memory.
Structured. Work lives in trackers, calendars and checklists rather than in memory or scattered across chat threads. Systems are set up early and maintained, so a change in direction is a small update instead of a rebuild.
Composed in communication. Written and spoken communication with clients stays clear, professional and free of defensiveness, including when feedback arrives vague, contradictory or bluntly delivered. Difficult conversations are handled directly rather than avoided.
Steady under change. Shifting direction, reversed approvals and compressed deadlines are treated as normal conditions of the account. Frustration is processed internally or with the lead, never in a client channel.
Ownership. Problems arrive with a proposed solution attached. Gaps in a brief are questioned before work starts, and mistakes are raised early rather than discovered downstream.
