Job Description

We are building Lium, a next-generation GPU platform that powers AI workloads through high-performance distributed infrastructure.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Python Engineer who will work directly with the founder to expand and maintain the Lium compute ecosystem.

You will be responsible for building the backend services, micro-infrastructure, orchestration logic, and developer-facing tooling that powers our GPU network.

Core Responsibilities

• Implement backend services for the Lium API, GPU scheduler, billing, and orchestration
• Work on distributed GPU node orchestration (health checks, lifecycle, metrics)
• Extend and maintain the lium CLI with clean UNIX-style UX 
• Develop secure, minimal, robust Docker-based execution environments
• Build automation around instance spin-ups, configuration, monitoring, and teardown
• Maintain high reliability across GPU providers (GPU workloads, FastAPI servers)
• Design internal dashboards, metrics pipelines, and logging (Grafana, Prometheus)
• Diagnose complex production issues across networking, containers, and GPU stack
• Collaborate on architecture decisions and create documentation when needed

Job Requirements

Required

• Proven experience in backend engineering, particularly with Python
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and Linux environments
• Skilled in producing clean, maintainable, and well-organized code
• Knowledge of distributed systems or cloud-based architectures
• Strong grasp of networking concepts, security configurations, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure
• Ability to take initiative and deliver results quickly
   

Nice to Have

• Experience with GPU technology, CUDA, or machine learning infrastructure
• Background in developing developer tools or command-line interfaces
• Experience with high-throughput systems, load balancing, or automatic scaling
• Interest in cryptocurrency or knowledge about the Bittensor ecosystem
