Job Description
Emerge is a commercial insurance intermediary with full placement infrastructure: direct market access across local insurers and takaful operators, and reinsurance capacity through Lloyd's and Labuan. We run a salaried sales/broking and operations team that handles the technical and back-office work — submissions, slip drafting, negotiation, policy administration, claims liaison, and compliance — so that the people who originate and close business can focus on clients. We also run our own brands and a lead-generation engine, so warm inbound leads come to you to close — you are not starting from a cold pipeline every month.
We are hiring a Sales & Business Development Manager to drive new commercial business and grow the accounts we win. This is a closing role for someone who can convert warm leads and open their own doors.
You close warm leads we generate and hunt your own — the broking and ops teams stand behind you so that every deal is serviced properly and renews.
What you'll do
- Convert warm leads. Work the inbound leads generated by our own brands and lead-gen engine — qualify fast, and close.
- Originate. On top of inbound, build and work your own pipeline of commercial prospects — corporates, SMEs, and group buyers — through your network, referrals, and proactive prospecting.
- Close. Own deals end to end: qualify, scope the opportunity, shape the placement strategy with the technical team, present terms, handle objections, and bring the account over the line.
- Lead the client relationship. Be the trusted face for the client through placement and renewal while the technical team executes the underlying broking.
- Own the renewal. You are ultimately responsible for closing every renewal on your accounts. Marketing and the Ops / placement team facilitate — they prepare terms, remarket, and execute — but securing the client's renewal decision is yours to close.
- Grow the book. Retain and expand the accounts you win — identify cross-sell and adjacent lines (e.g. a manufacturer who also needs marine cargo, D&O, or employee benefits).
- Hit the number. Carry a new-business target and a retention target, and report pipeline and forecast accurately.
