Job Description

About the Role

We place fleet insurance for SMEs and corporate clients across logistics, distribution, construction, plantation, and ride-hail / delivery operators. You will be the operational backbone of this book — placing new business, managing renewals, handling endorsements, and making sure clients have a clean, professional experience every step of the way. This is a technically demanding execution role. You will work directly with insurer underwriters, client fleet managers, and our internal producers and account executives. 

Key responsibilities

Placement and renewals

  •  Manage the end-to-end placement cycle for commercial motor fleet accounts: gather underwriting information, prepare submissions, negotiate quotes with insurers, present options, bind cover, issue cover notes.
  •  Operate a 90/60/30-day pre-renewal calendar across the book; ensure no renewal is allowed to lapse without conscious action.
  •  Negotiate fleet rating, NCD treatment, all-driver vs named-driver structures, betterment terms, and fleet-specific extensions (e.g., windscreen, special perils, contingent liability).
  •  Process mid-term endorsements: vehicle additions/deletions, sum insured adjustments, change of usage, transfer of interest.

Insurer and market relationships

  •  Maintain working relationships with motor underwriters across the Malaysian market
  •  Stay current on detariffication developments, PIAM circulars, and motor pool / RBC implications for fleet accounts.
  •  Operate insurer portals: ISM, eCover, MITC, and individual insurer portals as required.

Client servicing

  •  Be the operational point of contact for fleet clients post-binding: certificate issuance, schedule corrections, premium queries, claims notification.
  •  Coordinate with the claims team on fleet incidents — first notification of loss (FNOL), insurer notification, document collation, status updates.
  •  Produce clear, accurate documentation: cover notes, schedules, debit/credit notes, premium statements.

Operations and data integrity

  •  Maintain accurate policy and client data in our broker management system.
  •  Support finance with premium reconciliations, aged debtor follow-ups, and insurer settlement queries.
  •  Identify recurring operational frictions and propose process improvements — we want operators who think, not just execute.


Job Requirements

Requirements

  •  3–5 years of motor insurance experience on the broker, agency, or insurer side. Fleet experience is essential, individual private car experience alone is not enough.
  •  Strong working knowledge of Malaysian commercial motor: detariffication, fleet rating mechanics, NCD entitlement, common endorsements, fleet claims experience adjustments.
  •  Familiarity with PIAM systems and insurer broker portals.
  •  Diploma or Bachelor's degree, ideally with a CII or MII qualification (or active progress toward one).
  •  Registered or registrable as an insurance broker representative under the Financial Services Act 2013.
  •  Strong attention to detail — fleet schedules with 50+ vehicles leave no room for sloppy data.
  •  Comfortable in Excel; able to handle vehicle schedules, premium calculations, and reconciliation work.

Nice to have

  •  Prior experience servicing a logistics, distribution, or ride-hail / delivery fleet account.
  •  Exposure to motor takaful as well as conventional motor.
  •  Bahasa Malaysia and English proficiency for client and insurer communication.

  •  Renewal retention rate above 90% on the books you manage.
  •  Renewal cycle runs on auto-pilot: 90/60/30-day touchpoints, no last-minute scrambles, no lapses.
  •  Insurer relationships are warm enough that you can pick up the phone on a contested risk and get a constructive conversation.
