Network Implementation Engineer

Job Summary

This role is responsible for infrastructure tool/service designs within technical domains in accordance with architectural governance, standards, and policies. Key responsibilities include facilitating the deployment of tools/services by leading others in solution development, maintaining templates, playbooks, and automation used during implementation. Job expectations include demonstrating expertise within technical domains, decomposing issues or objectives into work units, advancing efficient solution delivery practices, and promoting exceptional design, engineering, and organizational practices.

Responsibilities & Duties 

• Understand how designs turn into implementations; implementations that are based upon standards and predefined strategies.
  Work with Design and Architecture Engineering in a “knowledge sharing” capacity to support the team’s adoption and successful delivery of new technology, systems, or process changes.
• Play a strong role in project delivery lifecycle management. Partner with the design Engineering team to create detailed implementation plans for all design, test and accept criteria, back-out and validation plans, and procedures.
• Adhere to project close-out practices such as asset tracking, inventories, chargeback, documentation, and related systems, tools, and process updates.
• Support initiatives as they transition between design, implementation, and operations. Act as an SME to support, solve problems, and facilitate decision-making. The goal is to help the orderly and timely execution of projects and initiatives in an optimal, strategic, and low-risk way.
• Perform Q/A function prior to every implementation project. Review designs to ensure they are based on standards and match the “commission” details (installation, turn-up). Any questions must be reviewed with the Design Engineer.
• Technical areas of focus include but are not limited to Core WAN/MAN Technologies – MPLS-E, MetroE, Leased Line, Broadband, Direct Internet Access, Dark Fiber, DWDM, Carrier Circuits, Tunneling protocols – SSL/TLS, IPSEC, GRE, DMVPN, MACSEC, Routing, Switching, Firewalls, Load Balancers, LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, NAC, QoS, CAC, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, Multicast, NHRP, ATM, PPP, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, ACL, VPN, Building Wireless/Wi-Fi solutions (802.xx) and carrier “in-building” wireless services (DAS), etc. Knowledge of Cable Systems is a plus.
  

 Qualifications & Skills

• 7+ years of experience in Data Networking-related disciplines in design, operation, and implementation services.
• Design, Implementation, Support SD-WAN is required, preferred if on Palo Alto Cloudgenix.
• Design, Implementation, Support SD-ACCESS is required, preferred if on Cisco DNA Center.
• Design, Implementation, Support Wireless is required, preferred if on HPE Aruba.
• Experience with CISCO NSO and general experience in Network Automation tools and processes.
• Strong skills in Scripting required; Python, Ansible, Perl, PowerShell.
• Strong Automation Skills – Expect, Rancid, REST/SOAP.
  Software development experience, should think like a software developer.
• Strong knowledge of Network Security.
• Must adhere to global network design authority processes and procedures.
• Must demonstrate good computer skills and the use of various applications such as MS Office, MS Visio.
• Ability to recognize opportunities for automation and process improvements.
• Ability to assemble professional documents and artifacts.
• Extensive knowledge and experience using advanced tooling, includes but is not limited to Sniffer/Wireshark, Prognosis, Scripting, SolarWinds, HP NA/OpsWare/OpenView, etc.
• Application experience with an innovation “mind-set” and how it impacts how engineering work gets done.
• Voice/VoIP/UC and Video knowledge (understanding of VoIP/UC systems such as Cisco CUCM, AVAYA Communications Manager, Microsoft LYNC, and Skype for Business, etc.).
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, related field, and/or technical training.

• Industry Certifications in CCDP, CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE
• Associated certifications JUNOS/JNCP, Cisco CCVP, and CCIP-Voice.
