Click on the link below to learn what our employees have to say about Evonik: https://careers.evonik.com/en/about/meet-the-team/ Responsibilities • Design and implement virtualization solutions that meet business needs. • Evaluate and recommend virtualization technologies and tools. • Manage and optimize virtualized environments, ensuring high availability and performance. • Monitor overall performance and troubleshoot issues related to virtualization. • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders. • Analyze data to develop innovative solutions, effectively navigating processes and procedures to support decision-making. • Use your technical expertise to manage and resolve high-level escalations and requests, acting as a key point of contact for service providers and colleagues. • Keep up with the latest technology and industry trends by continuously learning, attending important conferences, and connecting with thought leaders. • Develop, maintain, and refine comprehensive documentation for systems, procedures, and processes, keeping information current and accessible. • Build strong relationships with cross-functional technology teams to create clear IT standards, deliver strategic projects, and improve our overall services. • Work as a member of the international Server Team, contributing to various tasks and projects locally and globally. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 5+ years of experience in virtualization architecture and management. • Proficiency in virtualization technologies such as KVM or OpenShift. • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure). • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., LPIC-3 Virtualization and Containerization or Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator). • Experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform). • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python). • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). • Strong understanding of networking, storage, and server technologies. • Strong critical thinking skills and a keen eye for detail. • A history of successful project involvement, from planning and execution to process optimization. • Willingness to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, to support our global operations and initiatives. • Willingness to join a regular on-call rotation, ensuring continued availability. • Adaptability to thrive in a hybrid work model, effectively balancing remote and in-office responsibilities to meet dynamic organizational needs. • Fluent in English, enabling clear communication in diverse professional settings. • Capable of clear and effective self-directed communication, providing technical guidance, sharing ideas, prompting action, and developing strategies and policies as needed.
