As a System Administrator, you play a key role in ensuring the organisation’s IT infrastructure, data centre, and business systems operate reliably, securely, and at high performance.

By maintaining system availability, enforcing operational discipline, and supporting regulatory and security requirements, your work enables business continuity, operational resilience, and customer trust. Through close coordination with internal teams and external service providers, you help ensure incidents are resolved effectively and improvements are continuously implemented across systems and data centre operations.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, stability, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s IT infrastructure and data centre environments. This role requires strong hands-on system administration skills, adherence to structured operational processes, and a proactive approach to risk management and operational excellence.

Success in this role is achieved by combining technical expertise with disciplined execution—ensuring systems remain available, secure, compliant, and resilient in both production and development environments.

Mission / Expected Outcomes

  • Minimise service disruption through effective incident management and root cause resolution.
  • Strengthen security, compliance, and operational controls across infrastructure environments.
  • Ensure robust backup, recovery, and disaster readiness to support business continuity.
  • Improve operational efficiency through automation and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & System Operations

  • Set up, operate, and maintain servers, operating systems, virtualisation platforms, storage appliances, and data centre infrastructure in alignment with approved business strategies, service levels, and information security policies.
  • Maintain system and data centre availability, performance, and operational stability for mission-critical production and development environments.
  • Monitor system and data centre capacity, utilisation, and performance trends to proactively identify risks and improvement opportunities.

Incident Management & Operational Control

  • Manage incident handling activities including investigation, resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to minimise service disruption.
  • Execute system administration activities in accordance with established change management, access control, and operational procedures.
  • Deliver first-level standby support on a rotational basis to ensure continuous system and data centre availability.

Security, Patch Management & Risk Support

  • Ensure timely execution of system patching, updates, and configuration hardening to maintain a strong security and compliance posture.
  • Assist in conducting operational and information security risk assessments for systems and data centre operations under management.

Data, Backup & Business Continuity

  • Administer and maintain database environments to ensure data availability, integrity, backup, and recoverability.
  • Oversee and execute backup, restoration, and data protection processes in line with business continuity and data governance requirements.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity activities, including planning, testing, execution, and documentation for systems and data centre operations.

Coordination, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors during system and data centre implementations, upgrades, maintenance, and recovery activities.
  • Maintain accurate system and data centre documentation, operational procedures, and configuration records to support audit and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, improve system availability, and reduce operational risk.
  • Provide guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentoring to junior technical staff where applicable.
  • Provide consultancy and technical assistance to IT operators in support of their day-to-day operational activities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in system administration, infrastructure operations, or data centre management.
    (Fresh graduates with strong technical foundations are encouraged to apply.)
  • Experience working in production or mission-critical environments is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of servers, operating systems, virtualisation technologies, database systems, and data centre operations.
  • Understanding of high availability, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity principles.
  • Familiarity with operational controls, incident management, change management, and security practices in regulated environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail, strong documentation discipline, and a quality-oriented mindset.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage time-critical operational situations.

Bonus / Advantageous Experience

  • Experience managing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, or DevOps practices.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools.
  • Experience in database administration, including clustering, backup, and recovery management.
