Job Description

About Us

At FinLit, we live by the ethos of "Make Impact Fun." We believe financial knowledge should be simple, honest and empowering, not confusing, boring or gatekept.

We turn complex topics like financial literacy, investing, economics, entrepreneurship, adulting, politics and current events into content people actually finish, share and act on. You will find us on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and beyond.

But we do not just live online. Through community events and real conversations, we bring our audience together and turn knowledge into action.

Mr Money TV is our biggest brand, over 115,000 followers strong, on a mission to help Malaysians reach their first RM100,000. That is where most of your work will live, alongside our other brands.

And now we are looking for one Social Media Executive to help us go a lot further.

Social Media Executive (Content and Growth)

If you are the person who sends your friends five reels a day and already has opinions about why one of them blew up, this is your playground.

You will decide what we say on social every week. You will find the ideas, write the stories, design the posts and watch the numbers tell you what to do next. The topics are big: money, business, the economy, politics, the whole messy business of adulting, and whatever is actually happening in Malaysia this week. If it touches how Malaysians make, keep or lose money, it is fair game.

The fun part is the translation. Taking something that sounds dry on paper and finding the angle that makes a 28 year old in Puchong stop scrolling and think about their own money. Nail that, and hundreds of thousands of people see your work.

You will not be handed a content calendar. You get to build it.

Key Responsibilities

🧠 Ideas, Trends and Planning

  • Own the content calendar. Decide what goes out, when, and why.
  • Scout topics daily and bring us angles we would not have found on our own.
  • Live in the feed. Spot trends early and work out how they fit our brand and our message.
  • Pitch new formats and series, not just new topics.

✍️ Writing and Storytelling

  • Write carousels, reel scripts, captions and stories across every format we run.
  • Turn research and raw ideas into stories people want to finish and send to a friend.
  • Ask the second question, then go and find the answer. Every number we publish carries a source and the year the data comes from.

🎨 Design and Visuals

  • Design posts and carousels in Canva using our brand templates.
  • Make things look sharp and on brand, and know when a layout is working against the words.

🎬 Video and Events

  • Do the simple edits yourself. Quick, scrappy, brainrot style cuts that need to be out today, not next week.
  • Brief our editor on the bigger pieces and spot a weak cut before it goes out.
  • When something is urgent, you are the reason it still ships.
  • Tag along to events and shoots. Capture stories, footage and behind the scenes moments, and keep the library tidy so we can use it again.
  • See someone interesting walk into the office? Grab them for a quick interview before they leave.

💬 Community

  • Reply to comments and DMs like a person, not a brand account.
  • Listen to what the audience keeps asking, and turn it into content.

📊 Growth and Numbers

  • Track what every piece did and tell us what the pattern is.
  • Use it. Change the next piece because of what you learned.
  • Dig back through what already performed and get more out of it.

🤝 Brand Campaigns

  • We work with real clients. You get a seat at the creative problem: how do we deliver what a brand needs in a way that still sounds like us and still earns its place in the feed.
  • It is one of the most useful skills you can build early in this industry.

Job Requirements

Join us if you are:

  • Genuinely curious about money and the real world - You already read about this stuff. Business, investing, the economy, the realities of adulting, what is happening in the country. You ask questions because you want to know, not because someone told you to.
  • A creative storyteller - You can take a complicated idea and make it land in fifteen slides or sixty seconds, with a good command of English and a feel for rhythm and pacing.
  • Naturally in tune with social media - You know hooks, formats, pacing and what makes something get saved and shared instead of just liked. You can explain why a post worked.
  • A creative problem solver - Full of ideas, quick on your feet. The shoot falls through, you find another way to make the piece.
  • A clear communicator - You ask good questions when a brief is fuzzy, take feedback well, and keep people in the loop.
  • Organised with your workflow - Timelines, files, process. Nothing disappears into a black hole of unnamed folders with you.
  • Self-motivated and a good teammate - You can run on your own without being chased, and you are still someone people enjoy working with.
  • Someone who measures what matters - Likes are nice. Saves, shares, watch time and follower growth are the ones that tell you something true. You want to know whether a piece actually worked, not just whether it felt good to make.
  • Someone who treats a flop as information - Not every post lands, and the ones that miss usually teach you more than the ones that fly. You look at what went wrong, take the lesson, and get on with the next one instead of taking it personally.
  • Energised by a fast pace and a steep learning curve - We move quickly and you will be thrown into real work early. If that sounds like the exciting part rather than the scary part, you will love it here.
  • Handy with the tools - Canva for design, CapCut for your own quick edits, and comfortable using AI to move faster while still checking what it gives you.

Bonus points if you have run a social account before, yours or someone else's, or have a basic feel for shooting, framing and light.

What You'll Learn

🚀 How a real media brand actually grows, not the theory version.

🎯 How to turn a dry, complicated topic into something people share.

💡 How to write about adulting and money in a way that feels like a friend talking, not a lecture.

📈 How to read data and let it change what you make next.

🤝 What it takes to deliver for a client without losing your own voice.

🎬 Content from end to end: idea, research, script, design, publish, learn.

⚡ And how much you can pick up in a few months when you are close to the work instead of watching it.

Why Join Us?

You will be making real content from day one. Not mock projects. Actual posts, actual events, actual audiences.

You get real ownership and room to experiment. If you have an idea, you do not need to win a committee over, you just need to make a good case.

The pace is quick and the learning curve is steep, and that is the best part of the deal. Feedback comes fast and straight, so you will improve in months what might take a year somewhere slower.

And your work will not sit in a folder. Hundreds of thousands of Malaysians will see it, and some of them will do something different with their money because of it.

One more thing, because it is part of why this is fun: we have opinions about what we will not do. No stock tips. No taking money to pump anything. No party politics, though we will go hard at policy when it hits people's wallets. And we never talk down to someone who feels behind on money, because most of our audience does.

Type: Full time, weekdays, on site at Kota Damansara. Some events fall on evenings or weekends, and we tell you in advance.

Send us the following at career@finlitmedia.co:

  1. Your five best pieces of content
  2. A short note on why you want to build this with us
  3. One piece of content you think we should make next, and why it would work for our audience

That last one is the one we read closest. We care less about the idea itself than how you got to it.
