Job Description

 Key Responsibilities

A. Storekeeper Duties (Engineering Store Focus - 60%)

  • Technical Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming materials, including raw materials (steel, aluminum), mechanical components (bearings, seals), welding consumables, cutting tools, and spare parts.
  • Storage & Preservation: Implement proper storage methods to prevent damage, corrosion, or deterioration of sensitive engineering materials. Manage controlled environments for specific items if required.
  • Stock Control & Reordering: Maintain optimal stock levels for critical items. Monitor min/max levels and generate purchase requisitions for replenishment to avoid project delays.
  • Parts Issuance: Issue tools, materials, and components to production teams and technicians against approved Material Request Forms and project job cards.
  • Tool Room Management: Manage the tool crib, including the issuance, return, and maintenance records of calibrated and precision tools.
  • System & Documentation: Maintain impeccable records in the inventory management system. Ensure all transactions are logged with relevant project codes. Prepare daily stock reports and coordinate for annual stock audits.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Adhere to all company HSE policies, especially concerning the storage and handling of hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, gases). Maintain a clean, safe, and 5S-organized storeroom.

B. Production Officer Duties (Workshop Support - 40%)

  • Production Planning Support: Work closely with the Production Planner/Manager to understand daily/weekly production schedules and ensure material availability.
  • Material Kitting: Prepare and kit all required materials for specific production jobs or project assemblies to improve workshop efficiency.
  • Production Coordination: Liaise between the store and workshop floor to communicate material shortages, defects, or discrepancies that may impact production timelines.
  • Documentation Support: Assist in maintaining production records, such as job traveler cards, inspection reports, and material consumption reports.
  • Quality Assurance Support: Ensure only approved and correct-specification materials are issued to the production floor. Support the quarantine of non-conforming items.
  • Waste & Scrap Management: Monitor and record the disposal of production scrap (metal off-cuts, etc.) in an organized manner.

Job Requirements

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: SPM/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 1 year of experience as a storekeeper or inventory controller, preferably within an engineering, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.
    • Hands-on experience with engineering materials, tools, and components is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with production or workshop processes (machining, welding, assembly) is essential.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
    • Experience with inventory management software (e.g., SQL) is a strong advantage.
    • Ability to read basic technical drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) is highly desirable.
