As the backbone of our kitchen, you keep service running by assisting chefs with basic food preparation, keeping workstations clean to MS 2610 Halal standards, and helping manage stock, equipment care, and waste so the team can focus on great guest experiences.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities and qualifications:

• Assist chefs in basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
• Ensure all ingredients handled are Halal-certified and comply with MS 2610 Muslim-Friendly Hospitality Services.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen by washing dishes, cleaning utensils, and sanitizing work stations to meet food safety and Halal guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment by cleaning and storing properly after use; report malfunctions or damages to the supervisor.
• Help in unpacking, organizing, and storing kitchen supplies and ingredients; ensure items are stored correctly and Halal products are clearly labeled and stored separately if needed.
• Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately, separating recyclables and organic waste per the kitchen's waste management policy; assist in portion control to minimize waste.
• Support the cooking process by mixing ingredients, preparing simple dishes, and garnishing plates under the chef's supervision.
• Follow all safety, hygiene, and Halal standards as directed by kitchen management and participate in regular training on MS 2610 standards and Halal food handling.
  
• Authority: Assist in food preparation and kitchen maintenance tasks as directed; ensure compliance with cleanliness, safety, and Halal standards; report issues related to food quality, equipment, or hygiene to the kitchen supervisor.
• Education: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) preferred; basic understanding of food hygiene and Halal practices is advantageous.
• Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is beneficial but not essential.
• Skills: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, attention to detail, basic food preparation skills, and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and Halal compliance.
