As a Contracts Lead, the job holder will be part of the Contracts & Procurement section under the Technical Department and will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of tenders and contracts for the business needs. The role also includes managing procurement negotiations and agreements in a commercially sound and efficient manner. The job holder is expected to ensure full compliance with all relevant internal policies and procedures, as well as applicable external legislation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Tendering & contracting
Organizes, manages, controls and supervise the contracts function and establishment of contracts.
• Ensures full adherence to internal tendering procedures and external legal requirements.
• Prepares, negotiates, and finalizes contracts in accordance with company rules, HSE standards, and applicable legislation. - Stakeholder Collaboration
Works closely with technical Contract Owners and supports collaboration with key internal stakeholders including HSE, Legal, Finance, and Management.
• Leads cross-functional teams in sourcing and contracting processes, ensuring alignment of technical and commercial requirements. - Commercial & Risk Management
Defines and implements the necessary checks and balances (e.g., contractual terms and conditions, remuneration structure, etc.) to deliver good quality materials and services at optimal market prices.
• Assesses and mitigates commercial, liability and insurance-related risks.
• Drives both technical and commercial optimization in any contracting strategy by applying thorough scope demand management, standardized specifications, and cost consciousness. - Contract Management
Intervenes in the settlement of disputes/claims, in relation with Legal, Insurance, Finance, and HPB, by proposing strategies and actions and by participating in the negotiations.
• Ensures that all approvals, justifications, and circulation forms are filed in line with the applicable procedures.
• Drives effective contract management to mitigate risks and meet technical, HSE, statutory, and commercial goals.
• Conducts market intelligence to ensure proper benchmarks for related categories. - Leadership & Team Development
Prioritizes team’s workload, sets objectives, and coaches/develops talent within the section.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must have:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Commercial discipline.
- At least 8-10 years of experience in Oil & Gas Operations and in the relevant field.
- Strong commercial awareness and solid business sense.
- Strong negotiation and excellent communication skills including presentation, effective conversations and written.
- Knowledge of using Sourcing Tools (Ariba, GEP), ERP systems (SAP / Maximo), and MS suite of applications.
- High proficiency and fluency in both spoken and written English.
