The Head of Geology will report directly to the Subsurface Manager and will lead the Geosciences Team in subsurface studies, data interpretation, and reservoir optimisation. The Head of Geology is also responsible to ensure the quality of geological data, oversee critical studies, validate geophysical interpretations, support well intervention, and drilling operations. This role requires a strong background in petroleum geosciences and leadership experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensures and validates the appropriate use of geological data, to contribute to the subsidiary objectives of production and cost optimization.
- Allocate correctly and efficiently human resources within the team and in a dynamic manner along the different phases of the studies.
- Define and monitor the critical phases of Geosciences (Geological) studies within the Field Development perimeter of the subsidiary, and their degree of complexity in-order to meet the high-level objectives set, and this in line with the quality standards as well as with the budget/time constraints defined by Management.
- Validate all geological data analysis and interpretation (e.g., Mud-log, electrical logs, seismic). Perform quality checking and validate geophysical interpretations and geological models for the support of reservoir team.
- Follow-up of wells during well intervention and drilling operations.
- Propose, optimize, and implement when appropriate, data acquisition plans, R&D programs, 3C initiatives.
- Follow Geological, Geophysical and Reservoir special studies performed for the subsidiary by internal and external contractors.
- Prepare, present, and defend Geological work dealing with the unitisation topics.
- Represents Geology in front of partners and authorities.
- Represents Geology discipline in unitisation discussions (or delegate).
- Monitor and ensure the technical and professional development of the team. Contribute to the Company main orientations in Geology technology. Understand the high-level objectives defined by the context and the Management by interfacing adequately with the different entities (e.g., Subsidiary, Partners, Regulator).
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- MSc in Petroleum Geosciences or equivalent.
- At least 10 years experiences in one or several 2G&R discipline.
- HSE awareness.
- Experience and ability in people management and team working.
- High proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work with others.
- Sound, logical, and rational thinking.
- Strong attention to details.
- Responsive and timely.
- Proactive and able to problem solve effectively.
- Able to work independently produce accurate and sound deliverables.
- Accountable and takes ownership of own work performance.
- Receptive towards negative feedback and performance management if any.
