The Senior Accountant is accountable in managing the daily accounting activities, ensuring compliance with the company’s processes and procedures. The jobholder ensures adherence to all relevant group accounting policies and standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate the overall accounting activities ensuring compliance and proper application of accounting standards and procedures.
- Prepare and update accounting procedures and detailed work processes.
- Develop and implement strategies for improvement within the accounting activities.
- Prepare the monthly and quarterly reporting packages to Head Office, including the required analysis.
- Provide the relevant matrices to be included in public announcements.
- Provide finance related information required for submission to Board of Directors and others.
- Prepare bi-annual/annual statutory financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with all tax legislations.
- Prepare accurate tax provision on a quarterly basis, including deferred tax.
- Prepare the annual tax computation for filing with the local authorities.
- Prepare withholding tax and its related documentations (when required).
- Supervise the follow up on partners’ accounts.
- Overseeing related activities in the ERP system, including implementation of changes or upgrades.
- Contribute to resolve any issues in ERP system.
- Maintain proper and up to date Chart of Accounts master data record.
- Provide training and support to team members on accounting related processes, both in and out of ERP.
- Liaise with external/internal auditors and tax agents/advisors.
- Act for Head of Accounting & Treasury in his/her absence.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant or CPA qualified.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and possesses the working knowledge of the Brunei Tax Regime.
- Experience in ERP tools is required.
- Strong team management and mentoring skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry is an advantage.
