Senior Inspection Engineer

Location: Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB)
Job Function: Field Operations (Maintenance & Inspection)
Employment Type: Permanent

The Senior Inspection Engineer reports directly to the Maintenance & Inspection Lead and is responsible for ensuring full compliance with statutory, code, standard and company procedure requirement through timely inspection execution, inspection process done by competent personnel, effective Integrity assessment and Risk-based analysis, and robust quality assurance program.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain and update inspection-related asset registers, inspection routes, measuring points, and supporting documentation for all plant equipment.
  • Manage and ensure accuracy of Computerised Maintenance Inspection Management System (CMIMS) master data, including baseline inspection and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) for new, existing, idle, and modified equipment.
  • Develop, plan, and annually review inspection scopes and schedules in line with inspection objectives, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain inspection procedures, plans, and documentation in compliance with COMPANY standards and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor execution of inspection activities, track anomalies, backlogs, and compliance, and report progress to the Maintenance & Inspection Lead.
  • Review inspection reports, assess results, and provide recommendations to ensure fitness-for-purpose of static equipment and safe site operations.
  • Manage inspection budgets, forecasts, and cost follow-ups in support of the Work Program Budget (WPB) and Business Plan (BP).
  • Provide technical and engineering support to site inspection and corrosion teams, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Manage inspection contractors, including contract scope, performance, costs, and endorsement of work for new installations and projects.
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans in CMIMS derived from RBI and COMPANY prescriptive requirements.
  • Manage inspection databases, historical records, KPI tracking, and preparation of inspection and corrosion performance reports.
  • Ensure timely renewal and validity of lifting equipment and PSV certificates of fitness.
  • Act as Inspection focal point for Full -Field Shutdown (FFSD) activities, Safety Environmental Critical Elements (SECE) guardian, monitoring performance, compliance, and backlog closure.
  • Lead In-Line Inspection (ILI) activities from tendering through execution and results analysis.
  • Maintain Emergency Pipeline Response System (EPRS), covering stock, contracts, and procedures.
  • Monitor corrosion management activities, including corrosion inhibition systems (chemical injection and pigging programs).
  • Track and manage inspection derogations and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure all lifting operations within COMPANY sites are performed safely and in line with COMPANY expectations and standards.
  • Review and approve critical lifting operation plans and provide technical guidance for daily lifting and handling activities.
  • Liaise with COMPANY Technical Authorities on complex lifting operations and ensure proper understanding and execution by personnel and contractors.
  • Support hazard identification, lift categorization, risk assessments, and technical review of lifting plans and team organization.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a Bachelors in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Inspection and Corrosion related experience within Oil, Gas and Petrochemical (OGP) industry.
  • Capable of reviewing/interpreting technical documents, installation drawings, P&IDs, and Inspection related technical documents.
  • Well versed with international Codes and Standards like API, ASME, AWS, BS & BS/EN.
  • Well versed with destructive and non-destructive testing methods, its advantages and disadvantages.
  • Experienced in Corrosion monitoring and Cathodic Protection System in OGP Industry.
  • Hands on with metallurgy/welding techniques, painting, and coating.
  • Experienced in Risk Based Inspection (RBI) & Fitness for Service (FFS)
  • Possess API 510, API 570 and/or API580 are added advantages.
  • Experience in reviewing handling and lifting plans will be an added advantage.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English & Malay.
  • Possess good communication and supervisory skills.
