Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • The Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager plays a strategic role in strengthening company’s corporate reputation as a trusted and sustainable leader in the building materials and construction industry. This role is responsible for shaping and driving external and internal communication strategies, enhancing stakeholder engagement, positioning company’s sustainability and ESG initiatives, managing corporate events, and leveraging social media platforms to increase visibility. The role also ensures effective internal collaboration across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Communications & Positioning

  • Develop and execute corporate communication strategies that reinforce company’s position as an industry leader in building materials and construction.
  • Support corporate transformation initiatives through clear communication of the company’s objectives, progress, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment of corporate messaging with company’s sustainability and ESG priorities.

2. Media & Public Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business, trade, and environmental media.
  • Prepare press releases, media kits, speeches, and statements that highlight company’s milestones, projects, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Position the company as a thought leader in sustainable construction and industrial innovation.

3. Stakeholder & Government Relations

  • Manage communication and engagement with government agencies, regulators, industry associations, and local communities.
  • Provide communications support for stakeholder engagement, including town halls, site visits, and government liaison activities.
  • Support advocacy initiatives related to the industry, environment, and sustainability policies.

4. Internal Communications

  • Design and implement employee engagement campaigns/events to strengthen company culture and alignment with company’s business strategy.
  • Manage internal communication platforms including newsletters, intranet, leadership messages, and employee events.
  • Equip senior leaders with communication toolkits to cascade key business messages effectively.
  • Facilitate internal collaboration across all departments, ensuring active involvement and support from the plants.

5. Sustainability, CSR & ESG Communications

  • Support the Strategy Team in communicating company's sustainability roadmap, green initiatives, and ESG reporting.
  • Develop impactful storytelling content on decarbonisation, alternative fuels, circular economy, and other green innovations.
  • Oversee CSR initiatives that strengthen community relations, particularly in areas surrounding plant operations and with local stakeholders.

6. Crisis & Issues Management

  • Support Risk and Corporate Governance in developing and implementing crisis communication frameworks for operational, reputational, or environmental incidents.
  • Provide support to the Head of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications in managing critical issues, with a focus on transparent, accurate, and timely engagement with stakeholders.

7. Brand, Digital, Social Media & Event Management

  • Protect and enhance company’s corporate brand identity across all communication touchpoints.
  • Oversee digital platforms, including the corporate website, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) to strengthen visibility among stakeholders, talent markets, and local communities.
  • Create impactful digital and social media campaigns showcasing industry leadership, safety culture, and sustainability efforts.
  • Plan, manage, and deliver corporate events - including internal and external programmes - in close collaboration with departments across HQ, and plants.

8. Team Leadership & Resource Management

  • Assist the Head of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications in providing leadership, guidance, and development opportunities for the Corporate Communications team.
  • Manage corporate communications budgets and external agencies (PR, creative, media, digital) to deliver cost-effective and impactful campaigns.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with operations, sustainability, HR, and plant teams and others to ensure alignment and execution excellence.


Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Sustainability, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in corporate communications, preferably in building materials, manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven track record in sustainability/ESG communications, government relations, media management, and event management.
  • Experience in managing digital platforms and social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) within a corporate/industrial context.
  • Experience in driving internal collaboration across departments.
  • Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to navigate regulatory environments.
  • Proficiency in Canva, video editing, and basic design tools to support visual storytelling.
  • Skilled in crisis communications and community engagement.
