Job Description

This role is responsible for establishing, managing, and leading the corporate finance function for the Shared Services Centre (SSC) in Kuala Lumpur, supporting the set-up of finance infrastructure, strong financial governance, and the company’s strategic and operational objectives.

Key Responsibility

  • Establish and manage local banking arrangements, ERP/accounting systems, and payroll funding and cash flow requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with Malaysian statutory reporting, tax, and audit requirements, and adherence to the Group’s policies, procedures, and internal control framework.

ERP Implementation & Systems Management

  • Design, manage, and oversee end-to-end ERP implementation in collaboration with external consultants.

Finance Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations across Accounts Payable (P2P), Accounts Receivable (O2C), General Ledger (R2R), and cash management.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve finance processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reports in accordance with IFRS, GAAP, and local statutory requirements.
  • Review and analyse financial performance, including variance analysis, and provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Consolidate and report monthly financial results to the Group in a timely manner.

Statutory & Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and file annual statutory financial statements for the local entity in compliance with local GAAP/IFRS.
  • Oversee local tax compliance, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT/GST, and Withholding Tax.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external statutory audits and internal audits.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Management

  • Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Partner with Business Units (BUs) to track actuals vs budget/forecast, investigate variances, and support decision-making.
  • Monitor and control operating expenses, including review and approval of purchase requisitions and vendor invoices.

Transfer Pricing & Chargebacks

  • Maintain and update the Transfer Pricing and Chargeback model.
  • Compute cost recharges to receiving Business Units based on agreed allocation methodologies (e.g. FTE, transaction volumes, time-tracking data).
  • Perform year-end true-up calculations to align recharges with actual costs versus budgeted rates.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with exposure to full-set accounts and end-to-end finance operations.
  • Experience managing the finance function of a foreign subsidiary or SSC entity in Malaysia.
  • Proven track record in setting up finance functions from scratch (banking, tax registration, ERP implementation, internal controls, accounting policies).
  • Experience with external audits (Big 4 or recognised audit firm) is an advantage.
  • Strong SAP proficiency and focus on process improvement and automation.
  • Solid understanding of transfer pricing principles (Cost-Plus models, intercompany billing).
  • Knowledge of Malaysian tax requirements: SST, Withholding Tax, Capital Allowances.
  • High independence and self-motivation, capable of operating with minimal on-the-ground support.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
