Job Description

The EHS Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and procedures to ensure the workplace remains safe, healthy, and compliant with Malaysian regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all operations comply with Malaysian laws and regulations, including OSHA 1994, EQA 1974, and FMA 1967.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant DOSH and DOE requirements.

2. Risk Management

Conduct regular Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC).

Identify potential risks and implement effective control measures.

3. Training & Awareness

Plan and conduct EHS training programs, including new hire orientation and toolbox talks.

Promote a strong safety culture across all departments.

4. Incident Management

Investigate all workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses.

Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Manage worker compensation–related documentation.

5. Waste Management

Oversee proper segregation, labelling, storage, transfer, and disposal of scheduled waste.

Ensure compliance with DOE guidelines and CePSWaM standards.

6. Management Systems

Assist in maintaining and improving ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

Coordinate surveillance audits and re-certification processes.

7. Inspections & Audits

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly EHS inspections.

Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with internal EHS procedures and standards.

8. External Party Management

Implement EHS procedures for all visitors, suppliers, and contractors.

Ensure external personnel follow site safety requirements.

9. Reporting & Liaison

Prepare and submit required EHS reports to DOSH and DOE.

Liaise with government officers during site inspections and official visits.


Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • DOSH-Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) – Mandatory
  • CEPSWaM certification – Preferred, especially for facilities handling scheduled waste.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in EHS or safety roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in scheduled waste management and DOE reporting is an advantage.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, EQA 1974, DOSH/DOE guidelines
