Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Field Sales Manager (Ocean & Air Freight) to lead business development and client acquisition within the international freight forwarding and logistics sector.

This role is fully focused on new business development (100% hunting), targeting potential customers in import/export, manufacturing, and trading industries. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of supply chain management, freight operations, trade compliance, and market trends to deliver tailored logistics solutions to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business acquisition through proactive sales prospecting and client engagement within the ocean and air freight forwarding segments.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and growth targets.
  • Identify, approach, and secure new customers — focusing on hunter-style business development activities.
  • Prepare and present sales proposals, quotations, and logistics solutions to clients.
  • Collaborate closely with internal operations, pricing, and customer service teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international logistics regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Analyze market conditions, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
  • Monitor and report sales performance, forecasts, and pipeline progress to senior management.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, industry events, and trade discussions.
  • Ensure all business transactions comply with company policies, service standards, and ethical guidelines.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of sales experience in freight forwarding, ocean freight, or air freight sectors.
  • Proven sales track record with measurable business growth and client acquisition achievements.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience leading teams or accounts in logistics or supply chain environments.
  • Experience in international transportation, trade compliance, customs clearance, and global logistics preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles, Incoterms, and freight operations.
  • Familiarity with financial and economic factors influencing international trade, including currency exchange and market conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM tools.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills — comfortable leading discussions with small groups (2–3 people).
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin or other regional languages is an advantage.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills within the logistics and supply chain sector.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong drive and resilience in achieving sales goals.
